Learning to fly a Glider in Hawaii
It's always been my dream to fly, and until now the closest I could get was flying my drone. Thanks to the FAA and the need to obtain a 333 exemption to fly commercially, I am required to have a pilots license of some sort. Perfect excuse to learn how to fly :)
On my second day of flight school I was already up and flying, and my instructor walked me through the steps of stall recovery as well as some aerobatics. Here's a quick video of the take-off, release, stall and spin recovery, a loop and landing. It is way more fun than it looks :)

  • I'm absolutely terrified for when I get to spin training (I've recently started learning to glide) but damn those views are AMAZING

Man you did great on your first lesson. Perfect landing.
  • Masterful instructor!

Exhilarating to say the least! That reminded me of my first flight in helicopter training doing an "autorotation".
  • @Jabild
Awesome! I recently went skydiving there and it was amazing!
  • @DaviLu
I didn't know that you do loops in the flightschool :D

Nice vid. Good for you. It's always been my dream to fly too. I just haven't got the chance yet. I hope one day i'll be able to fly just like you.

Sounds like Steve Lowry (Acroflight International) scaring the pants off another student. The Schweitzer 2-32 loves to spin. Great plane to learn how to recover from this potentially fatal situation.... Can't believe they may actually lose the field as the State wants to hand it back to the Army. This might be the best site in the world to learn to fly. Constant trade winds against the mountain ridges beside the airport mean you can stay up for hours and just concentrate on developing your flying skill.... Hope they can work out a plan that allows everyone to stay, the gliders, light planes and the skydiving companies...

Thanx for sharing! What is the glider?
