When they're talking about the recruitment shortfalls there's a lot of veterans, like myself, who got out in the past 20 years and when you're asked about your service you give an honest answer. No one wants to join when they fail to take care of you, treat you with dignity and they need to look in the mirror and make cultural changes from the top down. They have no one to blame but themselves.
  • Ask the people of Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Rumania, and Poland why supporting Ukraine is so important.

I love how at the end, when asked if he had any personal responsibility for the army's recruitment shortfall, he did not shy away from taking responsibility. That is a responsible leader. He's not just in it for personal glory.

“Do you bear some of the responsibility of that?” “Absolutely!” That is how leaders speak. You own the decision, you own the accountability.

I read about a certain Schommer, U.S Army. the likes of Josh Scandel. He got a Bronze Star Medal for exceptionally distinguished service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. His Iraq experience helps him now in dealing with the grind of daily volatility in tough stock markets — and those big gulp moments.

I remember going through NCO school in the Army, and during a lesson on the military's role in the political process, our instructor told us that the US Military is strictly apolitical and impartial to the political process, nonetheless; he also said the US military is the steward of the Constitution and democracy. Although we swore allegiance to the President, our true mandate was to protect and defend the US Constitution and its democratic values. When we asked him to clarify what he meant by "the US Military is the steward of the Constitution and democracy," he paused, thought for a second, and then said, "Let me put it this way: although the US Military has no say in the political process of the country, when we raised our right hand, we swore to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic, and as leaders, we have to be ready to do what we have to, to uphold that oath"... we all looked at each other knowing fully well what he meant. I'm glad this train of thought goes all the way to the top Military leadership as well.

As a veteran I would have like to see the General reflect more on the recent recruiting failures and lack of faith in our military. Quite obviously this was caused by the Iraq and Afghanistan wars being completely futile exercises in hubris and incompetence on the part of politicians and senior leadership and our country still hasn’t had a full reckoning of our failures in those wars.

"That's right, he said that". Perfect response. Infinite disdain.

Just caught lying under oath in congress. Nice timing 60min

I have huge respect for military leaders who just give plain and direct answers. Politicians on the other never answer the questions, spin and spew BS.

A person's true character is often revealed in the most challenging times. General Milley has been receiving threats within the country. As a man of honor who has served this nation, it is important for those who have benefited from his protection to reciprocate and support the efforts that he and his colleagues have made to safeguard the citizens. Praying for you, General Milley, and your family members. Thank you for your service.❤
  • @katemonster10119
He did not apologize. He admitted he made a mistake, which is not the same as an apology. Shameful
  • @the-o5202
👏👏👏 Thank you for your service, General Milley.

The only good thing Trump did was to pick General Milley for the Job. Thank God for General Milley's level head and Integrity during the last days of Trump's Presidency.

Recruiting is down because we're sick of wars.
