Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is a muddled, messy film that potentially ruins the future debuts of the X-Men and Fantastic Four, makes Doctor Strange a passenger in his own movie and turns the Scarlet Witch into a fool. In this review and analysis, I break down Sam Raimi’s culpability, Disney & Marvel’s responsibility in this whole thing, and some of the few saving graces of the film.

  • Don't worry, in an alternate universe Doctor Strange 2 was a masterpiece

What really got me was that Wong so easily confessed to there being copes of the Darkhold spells. Like, he was literally risking the fate of the entire multiverse for 5 sorcerers. Sure, they didn't deserve to die but they are guardians of the world and of magic. It's their literal job to die if they need to to prevent things like this from happening.

"Pointing out your own stupidity doesn't make it less stupid" Absolutely correct, this is a major rule of storytelling

Can we just agree that Wanda calling Strange a hypocrite for dream walking while she herself is even a bigger hypocrite for killing Reed Richards, a guy with a family just so she can be with her family that doesn't even exist (in her universe specificly) like "Out of my way or you die" "I know how it feels, I have a family too" "Who cares about your family, I want mine" Turns Richards into Blue Takis Spicy Noodles

But the sad part is that even the last line, “I love you in every universe” was over shadowed with the movie “everything everywhere all at once” which delivered the line way more powerfully and emotionally—actually, it did better everything this movie was supposed to do in every single aspect. This is comedy, not horror.

What they did to Professor X was so lame. It made me laugh out loud as well.
  • As someone who really REALLY enjoyed Doctor Strange 1, Multiverse of Madness really felt like I traded away steak and potatoes for a 30 year old burger and rotten fries. So much for "honoring its legacy." The entire movie is really an example of what's wrong with Phase 4.

The most annoying thing is how there always has to be a new hero introduced in each movie. Even in Moonknight who JUST joined the MCU they had to give the other lady powers by the end. It’s like they can’t just focus on one character.

I hate how evil characters get rewarded for all of the horrible things and like "it's okay you've killed thousands of people, but hey you realized you are bad and know all of your past misdeeds is erased, now let's go and get a beer", disgusting 🤢

And can we all just agree Wanda is a hypocrite by killing off Mr. Fantastic after he said that he has a family and kids and she dismisses it? Like at least say something meaningful.
  • This movie is the perfect example of why Thanos worked as a villain and Wanda doesn't. Thanos went through something tragic in his young life and so he decided that no one else should suffer the same fate. He was in the wrong and we all know that but the reason it worked was because we are able to understand the problems of over-population, hell, some places suffer from it. He wanted to balence it out, kill billions so trillions could prosper (way more than that but you get it). He even went as far as to sacrifice his own daughter that he cared about so he could "save" the universe. Wanda was sad that Vision died (understandable) so she justfied that it was okay to enslave an ENTIRE town, threaten the people that are trying to stop her and then go after not only a child but kill hundreds of people just so she can kill another version of her and take her kids. In his mind Thanos was destroying people for the greater good, Wanda was doing for a selfish reason
  • I’m so upset because Strange and Wanda were some of my favorite characters and they completely did them dirty in WV and MOM. I already hated the messaging at the end of WV where they say “They’ll never know what you sacrificed for them” as if those poor town people were in the wrong for resenting Wanda for MIND SLAVING THEM TO THE POINT OF BEGGING FOR THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH. At least in WV, Wanda did show some remorse in the end so I thought maybe she would repent for what she did. BUT NO. She does a 180 and turns completely remorseless in MOM murdering multiple people including a PARENT, just to bring back some fake kids that never even existed. If you’re going to make a character who was feeling remorse and guilt for their actions turn supervillain like Wanda does in MOM, you don’t just do that instantly. That’s just not how humans work. At least show the process of her getting corrupted and descending into madness first rather than suddenly turning her bad because ‘oh motherly love blah blah blah’. It makes me angry that MCU painted WANDA, who was clearly in the wrong in WV as the sympathetic VICTIM and then proceeded to make her into an absolute devil in MOM. On top of that, Strange doesn’t even play a big role in HIS OWN MOVIE. In the end, who’s the one who defeats Wanda? America and Wanda herself(Sure, America did fight Wanda off but in the end the only reason Wanda was defeated was because she seppukued herself after realizing for herself what a horrible person she’s become). What significance did Strange even have in this movie? He didn’t do much besides magic rap battling an evil version of him(Seriously, their fight made me laugh so much and I don’t even know if that was intended or not). And when things finally seemed to get somewhat compelling, I realized it was the end of the movie. I had high hopes for this movie since, once again, Strange is one of my favorite heroes. And the more I think of this movie, the more angry I get. I’m probably being nitpicky at this point, but it seems I’m not the only one here.
  • @TheAllyPatty
The actual fact that Wanda’s arc has gone from “what is grief but love persevering” straight to “hey lets murder because this book said so.” Is absolute horse sh**. Why tf did they take such a good foundation and turn it to rubble?
  • @silverscorpio24
I am extremely put off by how much the writers want to pretend that Wanda is a good person
  • @queencard340
"Disney gaslights like an abusive ex" is both the funniest and most truthful line I've heard in a while
  • You know a movie is bad, when the review of the movie is more entertaining than the movie itself.
  • @hyperr1092
Bruh the part where she steps on the platform and it says "play significant memory" or whatever it said I started laughing. It's the most embarrassingly obvious way to force feed the audience a backstory.
  • You know what annoyed me the most, when that sorcerer lady destroys the Darkhold instead of just stabbing Wanda while she’s dreamwalking lol
  • @ScottNetherstone
Dude, don't call this movie a Rick Roll. That's not fair to Rick Rolls.
  • I honestly never get tired of that segment with Trey Parker and Matt Stone explaining the difference between "and then" vs "therefore/but" storytelling. It's such a simple concept on its face, and yet more and more writers in television and film seem to not know of or ignore the concept. And it perfectly demonstrates why South Park has been around as long as it has and maintains its quality.
