Published 2023-03-31
I recently transplanted some spring snaps and storied it on my Instagram and got some surprises from folks who didn't realize you could maximize the spacing, so here's a video that talks a bit more about how to maximize your space with snaps- and of course whether pinching works with this method!

  • Awesome detailed content! As a hobby grower this type of info is hard to find! Thank you!!
  • @aimeesgardens
I am getting ready to plant out my snapdragons today and was just wondering both of these things so THANK YOU so much!!

All of those packed so closely could have contributed to the thrip problem but those look beautiful 😍 thank you for sharing ❤
  • I grow snaps very close, 3-4 inches apart and three in the same "hole", pinch half my snaps and let half go. And even though the snaps throw a second flush, the second is not as nice as the first: very thick stems, a lot of unusable side shoots, shorter vase life. I sometimes wonder if it's the heat or something in the late summer growing conditions that make the second flush a little less desirable.....
  • Any topic snapdragons- I’m in!! I love to learn about plants. And natives too, that look good too ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
  • If you wanted one out of the three seedlings, you can just snip two of them, rather than trying to separate them... I think I would aim for just one, then take the first spike, remove the plant and put in a new seedling.. Very interesting video Jessie 🎉
  • Excellent Snap Dragon video! May I ask how far apart you plant zinnias?

How are you feeling mama? Love your videos on snaps. Just started soil blocks yesterday (Z 5)
  • I have been looking for information to identify the series or group that the specific varieties belong too. And good resources someone can point me too. This is my first time trying to grow snapdragons and all I know is there are different groups. I have sprouted the twinney bronze, the cherry twist and the orange wonder. And yes I realize I should have started them much earlier but There is nothing on the packaging that tells me any of that information. I am in zone 9b. Just a home grower and Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
  • My issue on Oregon 8b is I get snapdragon rust. Every year! Is it in the soil or what is the issue. I try to water close to the ground and not get the leaves wet and I still get it. 😢

I'm a bit confused... are you saying, 3 seeds per plug and then 3 of those per six inches within the hortonova netting? Another words, 9 per six inches?
  • If you're planting snaps again, do you have a plan for fighting the thrips?
  • @aimeesgardens
Did you just raise the netting as the snapdragons got bigger or what?
  • @TheKlopovClan
My snapdragons started growing sideways shoots without me pinching them🤔

So I am new to this stuff but I always like snapdragons as a kid so I decided that I want to plant some in front of my house. What would y’all recommend as a first timer
