The move to Mercedes from Mclaren in 2013 was just like this. "Why would you move to team that isn't winning" will be interesting to watch.

Never hang around where you aren’t wanted. The Merc leadership wanted to go in a different direction. The way they were implementing their plan was shady. Merc have recognized that they have transferred wealth to SF , which is why they feel they need Max. King George has a chance this season to show he can lead.

Niki drove the red car, Michael drove the red car. Lewis will drive the red car, and another page in the history books will be written. I really don't see why everyone is making such a fuss over it.
-
Lewis has the backing of John Elkann, Chairman of Ferrari and a major shareholder, and Elkann will also invest in other projects alongside Lewis - support for Lewis doesn't come any higher than that.

It's just like Divorce. Once You've been disrespected, it's ridiculous to stay.

He said he has always wanted to drive for Ferrari and I don’t think there’s much more to it than that

Sounds like a no brainer for Hamilton. Stick around at Merc, and be taken for granted. Or drive for an Iconic brand, to end his career with. Ferrari will give him more crazy money, and a few years to let it roll in.

So...what's "insane" with the contract?
-
which part of "EveryOne Wants To Drive The Red Car" don't you get ?

In terms of points differentials between Russell and Lewis, you made mention of Russell’s DNF but forgot Lewis’s DNF earlier this year. This one sided narratives is very unbecoming. Lewis’s is without a doubt faster on race days than Russell this season, last season and 2022. All these conjectures I take with a pinch of salt. I’ll wait until Lewis retires and puts pen to paper on what transpired throughout his racing career. It sure will make a riveting read. In the meantime, all these narratives being put out there to influence our perceptions, I take as fairytales.

SLH is simply playing 5D Chess!

I imagine he will have a good sense of that the opportunity can afford him, his risk assessment for the situation would include the how Ferrari could deliver, he knows a great deal, obvious to us and occluded, I will not be surprised if he pulls an ace.

Look back to recent history (and further back with ferrari paying old top drivers) with Schumacher. He changed from bentonite to Ferrari and then got his last 5 championships. It's pretty much the same with Hamilton.

If it takes £100M per year to feel wanted, who are the fools in this deal? As we all know in F1, it's the car that generates a WDC and Ferrari are a long way from being winners right now while with James Alison now directing the engineering side for Mercedes, things are looking good for the Brackley based team. With George Russell and maybe Carlos Sainz or even Max Verstappen in the other Mercedes seat, I very much doubt Toto is losing sleep having not flashed £100M year on Lewis.

How is Nico Roseberg an ambassador for Mercedes, but they wouldn't even give Lewis? or am I missing something.
-
Don’t forget that LH had also a dnf this year. So the 1 point difference is based on having finished equal number of races by both of them. Says a lot about LH’s talent and skilles

Mercedes stopped listening to Lewis when Bottas was there. In fact they stopped listening to either of them and let Bottas go, bringing in an over confident Russell. Lewis could see Ferrari would value his input and he got a good deal. To drive for Ferrari is a box ticked that needs to be ticked.
-
He had no choice, Mercedes only offer 1+1 years contract, If Lewis leave 1 year later, no top tier team would have slot to offer him as driver. Ferrari with confirmed 3 years contract is his best choice.

When Schumacher went to Ferrari he turned around their fortunes, Hamilton is possibly the only driver at the moment who could do that. Enjoyed this video, would be better without the background music though.
