Hopefully the video is okay, it was a little rushed at the end including the editing. :)

Knife Making Down Under Podcast

As someone asked for the template of the knife, I've uploaded it to my website. I'm sure you wouldn't want to use my design but if you like the profile of the knife then you can use that with your own internal design. Print the knife at 100% size to make a knife the same size as mine or scale it to suit.

You can find it here paskmakes.com/plans/

As always I'm happy to answer any questions.

Happy birthday ... continue to be successful and, above all, stay healthy
  • @fatlacesthedon
Love how the time lapse makes the jeweler saw look automatic lmao
  • @jlarts
You know you need to make a sheath for it now right? 😉
  • Tape on the back of the sandpaper is such a clever idea. Love your videos, I've watched a dozen or so over the last week.

Your sense of proportion is really top notch. That’s something that can’t easily be trained you just have to have the eye for it. I’ve seen a lot of custom knives - an old girlfriend of mine was a high end knife maker and, in the world of tactical knives especially, proportion is probably the most important design element. Your knife is fantastic and I really admire the careful hours you put into it. It’s cool that the YouTube channel has made it possible for you to make money on a project like this. These days craftsmanship this meticulous in the knife world are reserved for a handful of people at the top who have tens of thousands into their equipment and branding. Or to the few, poor, dedicated smiths that do it for the calling. The quiet dignity you experienced when filing and sawing and sanding is heavily underrated and undervalued in the modern age. Chasing that feeling is what my life is about! Kudos!

I'm really glad to see you make this piece the old fashion way and not on a CNC machine like a lot of makers are using these day. Anything made on a CNC machine just cannot be called "handmade". Of course if your in production mode for a big profit CNC's are useful. Really nice work here!

Happy birthday Neil. Have fun and appreciate your wife for giving you all the time to play in your workshop. All the best from South Africa
  • You’re one of the few makers on YouTube that says, “it’s not the best but I’m okay with it,” and I like that a lot. And I love the knife! Make a leather sheath for it?
  • @phbrinsden
Craftsman and artist. And no fancy CNC etc. just very patient handwork. A joy to watch your work. Thank you.
  • @LyndonBontrager
Who needs laser cutting when you have Neil? Who needs Netflix when you have Neil? I'm amazed at your level of patience and artistic detail. Thank you for inspiring us all and Happy Birthday!
  • I know from direct experience that you do not start to get old until 70.
  • @thomasverdi2056
It looks beautiful I love you did it by hand and not with the CNC
  • Pask... picks most difficult one for fun. Makes knife. Looks amazing. That's my man!
  • You can be sure that the knife is a one of a kind, because hardly anyone is as crazy as you and will do so much work. I like it. very inspiring!
  • @benmillar04
Fantastic job - you are definitely more patient than most. Happy birthday and welcome to Tassie!

No.., you're not crazy, listening to a good book, one could quickly get in the zone and time is no longer a factor. For something that's only piece, there is a lot more time and effort gone into this knife than something with scales, bolster etc, a lot of intricate work gone into it and it shows. It doesn't matter if you're shoveling sheep manure as long as you are enjoying the task, your work ethic and attitude towards going the extra mile is infectious. Keep up the great videos, I have binged watched all your uploads, found them to be very enjoyable and relaxing. BTW.. Have a great Birthday young man.
  • @P1iMaster
Happy Birthday and welcome to the Chapter "Now it´s getting even better" of your life! Greetz from Germany and thank you - your projects are highly appreciated!
  • @samh8073
I appreciate you doing this by hand and not with a CNC or laser cutter like a lot of other makers would have done, great job!
  • @snupmadra3787
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My favourite bit about your videos is your patience. You're obviously in flow!
