Godzilla just wanted to go for a walk and ask Japan how's their health plan. Apparently it was great.

I went into the theatre to see this and had no expectations. it blew me away. I did not expect a Godzilla movie to make me cry. And it's absolutely worth reading into the movie and all the symbolism.

$15 million budget! To make this awesome film! That is just incredible work from a small team! Thru deserve so much more recognition!

Some people complaining why they upload the trailer now. Guy...Godzilla just shows up with no announcement...that's how Godzilla is.

Nothing beats that FIRST moment you hear his theme in this movie... you almost forgot about it, and then boom, strap TF in lol
  • I'm a film snob; Scholarship in Film Studies, was planning on pursuing a doctorate in Film and teaching other film buffs. I love Films. I watch a TON of films. I've watched all the Godzilla films. This might be the very best one. It is one of the few that has a central character; and what a fantastic, layered, and tragic character. It has real serious human drama; you see true consequences of the monster's rampage--No cute, tail-sliding Godzilla here. He's the personification of terror, loss, and the destruction of hope. So it's set in the era where all of that fits flawlessly; Japan after the war. The government can't be trusted, the country is once again in horrific ruin, and a team of civilians and former sailors and soldiers must fix the problem. Everything in this is so superbly done, and on a budget that laughs openly at the hundreds of millions spent in this country to give King Kong a power glove. THIS is how Godzilla should be. THIS is how a Godzilla movie should be made--leave it to the originators to carry on the story of GOJIRA like it should be. Arigato Gozaimasu, Toho. Superb.

They made me care about the human characters in a Godzilla movie, I truly loved it and it is absolutely worth a watch
  • I am not much of a Godzilla fan, but this movie was spectacular and deserves all the praise it can get!

I’m so glad I got to see this movie again on Netflix. Ironically enough, Godzilla was the whole reason I bought Netflix to begin with (Back in 2018 when Polygon’s Godzilla Anime Trilogy was released on Netflix). As a longtime Godzilla fan, I cannot overstate how thankful I am for this movie and EVERYTHING it has given me. The quality of the film, itself, and all of its achievements have gone above and beyond anything I could have dreamed this film’s success would be. “Minus One” has been the film that keeps on giving! ^^

Best movie of 2023 and deserved to be nominated for more Oscars than just the visual effects award!
  • @thegame42640
This is my favorite Godzilla movie of all time and don't think any other recent Godzilla movie can hold a candle to this one, but I feel this movie deserved more Oscars than just one for Best Visuals.

  • Wonderful film. I am not a Godzilla fan but a lover of great movies. This was incredible. Watched it 3x in cinema and on Netflix. Just pure cinema for 2 hours. Great story, screenplay, acting and drama from start to finish. The best film of 2023 for me.

Never saw a Godzilla film in my life. This was a work of art. Beautifully done. I wept. And I love Godzilla’s roar (alongside Koichi’s gut-wrenching scream).
