The cheapest VR PC - ATHLON and RADEON

Published 2020-04-03
Trying to run VR games with a cheap GPU and then ONLY the integrated graphics in the CPU.

I've been Playing VR for a few years now and have made many gaming PCs for people. But this made me wonder whats the cheapest components can get to make a working gaming PC that can play typical VR games.

Some how I managed to get it down to under £80 for a PC to run BeatSaber well enouth.

VR Recomended minimal Build:
Intel i5-6500 £180
NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB £240
8-16GB RAM ~£72
MSI B365M PRO-VDH Motherboard £62.99
Corsair RM550x 80 PLUS Gold 550W PSU £87.99
Samsung 970 EVO Plus 500GB NVMe SSD £107.99
Total Cost with out case: £750.97

VR Build in this Video:
AMD Athlon 200GE 2-Core £38.99
Radeon R9 380 4GB £49.95
8GB RAM £35
Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard £74
Corsair VS450 450W PSU £39
Western Digital Green 480GB £36
Total Cost: £272.94‬
Using just integrated graphics: £222.99

A lot of the Computer parts used in the video are parts I had laying around so didnt have to buy them, Total real cost of parts bought £72.

VR hardware and softwear has become very efficient and optimised which means you can run VR games on very modist hardwear.
I love trying new things and pushing what can be done. Big thanks to Shannon Green for helping with some filming.

I would implore you guys don't build athlon 200ge just get 3000g because you can overclock it with a stock cooler and the price I think 3000g is cheaper used or new and it's faster even if you don't overclock it and just running in stock setting

Ok when you changed to vega 3 was amazing, did you try vrchat with vega 3 and oculus? I have an athlon 3000g and in the future i want to buy visor and graphics card, but if i could try vrchat with vega 3 while i buy gpu would be great

Did you have to reduce the settings? And was the gameplay in the headset choppy? Good video btw👍🏻
