This was filmed in May 2023.

One quick way I find to check if a casting is a repro is to look for the screws. Often modern copies have cross head or Phillips screws while originals usually but not always have standard old slot head screws. I love this video, almost like museum walk through and treasure hunt combined.

04:39 next to the battleship is a Danish M1867 bayonet. Not a bad price with the scabbard and certainly an odd find at a flea market. Also that spear gun is super cool, it's a converted Remington rolling block rifle. Other cool finds: Infill handplanes in the Lord Hobo box at 08:47 Starrett 91C tap wrench at 13:55 Stanley #71 router plane at 14:16 Bridge clamps (heavy duty c clamps) at 15:07 Wooden core box plane at 16:05 Do you know if they have the flea market in the fall?

I would have taken all the popular mechanic magazines! At 1.00 each they are probably 5-25.00 each?
  • Hi, That was a good by on the red phone. It may have been built by Western Electric that was the manufacturing arm of AT&T. The lever underneath adjusts the ringer volume. I worked for Western Electric/ AT&T and retired with over 30 years service. When I started at Western Electric in 1970 they had wooden phone booths that you could sit down and close the door. Looked like a fun day looking around.

I was at a Flea Market in Tacoma WA. when I saw a guy pick up a handled splitting maul and I couldn't resist. "Yeah, that Ax has been worn down to just a nub. You should be able to get a good price on that." "What? No! This is a split'n maul." "Yeah, that's all it's good for now." I noticed that the owner was listening in with a real big smile. "Excuse me sir, this table yours? What you ask'n for this nub of an Ax?" He couldn't hold it any longer and busted out laughing. "What I got on it, 9 bucks? How about 6?" The guy said, "I'll take it?", getting the jest. "See, that's how you get a discount. I was making pretty good money back then and I knew sellers were dropping off and the drive-in property value was increasing and everyone suspected it would be sold sooner or later. I would slip some of the vender's a 5 dollar bill, knowing these people really had to be there, and thank them for coming out. That Flea Market is gone now and a huge apartment building sits there now.

That Kodak Colorburst camera was missing it's nameplate because Kodak copied Polaroid, Polaroid sued, Kodak lost. And if you owned a Colorburst, if you mailed Kodak the nameplate, they would send you money as part of the settlement. (It might have been vouchers to purchase another camera, - don't remember)
