Ah, this should be fun. "Games I hate" first entry "Valkyrie Profile..." Hoo boy, strap in, boys! We're in for a wild ride!
  • "It focused on Summons and stars a bunch of school kids..." When you put it like that, you make FFVIII sound less like a Final Fantasy game and more like an SMT/Persona game. 😂
  • @exalt1470
Maybe reviewers liked them, but I definitely see Chrono Cross and ff8 get plenty of flack on the internet.
  • It looks like my request for a Valkyrie profile let’s play will go unheeded, lol.
  • @Nickzstuff
I dont think reviewers are inherently a bad thing. Everyones got an opinion but taking any review as "gospel" is always a mistake. I didnt agree with all your choices but enjoyed what choices ya had! :D
  • Man I love Chrono Cross but I totally see where you're coming from. The main problem with that game is one's expectations coming into it. Most people were expecting a Chrono Trigger 2, and the way this was developed was truly a bit like you expressed it. They wanted to do "The opposite". I believe the team had such an awful time developing the first game (Mitsuda reportedly had to admit himself into the hospital after the release, cause he had overworked himself at the cost of his own health) that they were like... "Let's not do that" so they tried to create something as far removed from the original as possible. If you come into the game expecting a second Trigger, boy are you in for a disappointment. But if you take it with a clean slate, as a completely original game with a loose connection via lore with the first, this game is such a treat. And yeah I do aknowledge that the fact that this connection is revealed over a huge exposition dump near the end of the game is a bit crap. But the rest is nice :) Also, it's truly dumb to get mad cause someone else doesn't like a game you like, who does that? Oh, yeah... the internet, I forgot

ngl having ff8 kinda hurt me, but then i realized that opinions are made to be stated as most are not a hopeless romantic like me. great vid keep up the good work!
  • @nickdaulton7340
I love Legend of Dragoon! God I love how much you hate it! Made my day, honestly. I LOVE when people passionately hate something I like for some reason. I dont ever mind someone having a differing opinion than mine, but when the hate is REAL, the creativity of the insults are amazing. Love this dude.
  • Does ff8 have problems? Yes. Does it have an awesome soundtrack? Also yes.
  • @svenislegend
I love Legend of Dragoon. I played it a couple years back and it still holds up beautifully for me
  • @MitsuoRLCoach
Everything you said about the Dragoon game is the reason people like it. The addition system is fun and interactive, not boring and a waste of time. The item limit is nothing to complain about in my experience and the Dragoon forms and are a special type of atk that are designed to use against particular enemies at the right time.

Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon and FF8 are three of my favorite games. Still giving a thumbs up for your opinion, man. Lol.
  • @jrsanders1212
I think I hated the addition system in legend of dragoon so much that i spend enough time grinding to buy the "Additions auto work" accessory as soon as possible. And I never got over that FF8 had a level max of 100 and kept in level 5 death.
  • @biz0unc3
I don't see Chrono Cross as a sequel, but a spinoff of sorts. Evidence? It isn't called Chrono Trigger 2.
  • @lostnumber08
David, I've watched a shitload of your videos and I just wanted to say that they are great and I hope you keep making content.
  • @TimBitten
Man! Triple Triad though! lol That was my main motivation for going through the game. It’s a card battler with an RPG attached. 😂
  • @fenniken5381
hey, everyone has their own tastes, for instance i actually like lunar dragon song, and i feel there are rpgs released nowadays that aren't hallway simulators and have a lot of charm.
  • @-lord1754
Becoming a JRPG fan has taught me that you should never listen to reviewers. Considering after the recent Nintendo Direct, journalists are now saying SMT is the Persona spinoff, you really can't trust anything they say lol

Big fan of Rogue Galaxy but I can kind of understand your problems with it even though they never bothered me too much. I won't lie though, I actually wish it was a bit harder in terms of difficulty since once you get past zerard, outside of the solo battle with dingo, the game never really challenges you much as it did within the opening hours (just like DC2) and on future playthroughs you start realizing that block cancelling your attacks makes combat a non-issue so long as you're paying attention and lets you get in and out of an enemies attacks with relative ease since everything attacks pretty slow. Only thing I will agree with is that the balancing is pretty wack. The screen wipe attacks needed more hard counters to them since late game you can just walk into a fight, spam them and the enemy will be dead before they even have a chance to move, items should've been used in real time as well as using up points on the action bar so that you couldn't just tank a hit and then be free to heal it all back up. This would probably solve your issue with the damage too since the only reason it is so high is more than likely to make up for the fact that you can pause and heal (I just thank god it doesn't reach one shot levels of bad like Nier Automata) and make you have to think before using one, the amounts could also just be decreased as well. Another problem is that character balance is massively skewed in favor of Jaster, Kisala and Zegram who get the best skills in the game and while the others aren't bad, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage a lot of the time with anybody else. Jaster in particular is pretty stupid since you can get his best skill very early if you know what to put on and his best weapon for the last chunk of the main game can be gotten by the time your halfway through it with relative ease, not only invalidating the weapons that you DO actually need to go on a scavenger hunt and crafting sidequest for but also putting him leaps and bounds above everyone else because no other character gets a weapon this powerful even by the end of the game. Sorry this post went on a bit long, I tend to rant when talking about the games I enjoy a good deal.
