Pokemon recently added a 19th Type - the Stellar type - and players thought it would take over the game. But somehow, Stellar is one of the worst types - here's how it happened.

You don't use stellar tera type because it sucks. I don't use stellar tera type because I don't have the DLC. We are not the same
  • To be fair, the stellar type is not a new type. It's a gimmick within a gimmick, marketed as a new type to generate hype and expectation.

Stellar isn’t even really a new type it can only be used when in Tera form that’s like saying mega Pokémon are entirely new Pokemon
  • @bagthecadran
It took me way too long to realize this wasn’t an April Fool’s joke and I’m just out of the pokemon loop
  • @drugerrv9717
The true stellar type was the incineroar we found along the way
  • Ngl this smells like someone at Gamefreak looked at the "shadow type" in original colosseum and was like make that a terratype but not broken and repeatably got scared they over did it at each stage of it's development.

how to die tutorial: take a shot every time he says tera type
  • @Ice_Trey87
It won’t matter in one or two years when gen ten throws terastilization out the window with z moves and dynamaxing.

This is like the embodiment of everything I dislike about modern Pokémon, they just keep adding these one off, barely realised mechanics that don’t feel connected to the broader game.

I think that Ditto works well for it. The problem with picking a tera type for a ditto is that you don't know what pokemon you are going to become until you switch out the ditto, so your prediction of a type could go to waste due to it either not having a move that matches your offensive tera type or being a better type combo than your tera. Ditto also doesn't have alot of hp so it won't always last as long as you may want. With the stellar type, you don't have to mess up your typing, and you can get in a few really strong hits before fainting. Keep in mind I am not an expert in Pokemon, especially competitively, so if you can prove me wrong, do it.
  • They should have just made Stellar type weak against everything defensively and strong against everything offensively

Worth noting, Stellar form Terapagos is not a Stellar type; it's still considered a Normal type that is Terastalized into Stellar. Funnily enough, because the type of Tera Starstorm changes, this actually means that it loses the STAB boost and gets slightly weaker, which is why on Showdown you sometimes see Terapagos running moves like Tri Attack alongside or instead of it.

And to think that Masuda removed the Azure Flute event back in D/P/Pt because he thought it would be too difficult for players to understand it...
  • @mrclownyclown_
wait there was a new type? this was so unimpactful i didnt hear about it at all😭😭😭
  • @Clueman778
I love ya Wolfey, but the idea that adding Fairy type was ‘a disaster’ or made the game notably worse is a symptom of late-stage competitive brain
  • @Deathnotefan97
I choose to believe that stellar type was made super effective against terastalized Pokémon because Game Freak saw all the memes about Tera electric Shedinja with air balloon and panicked
  • @emdal4055
Wolf : I think all of you are stellar ! me : does that mean you think we are all total failures ?
  • @dblaze23
Its such a failure, that i had no idea it existed before this video.
