"I want to settle this the civilized way, with violence." Gold.
-
Conan appearing out of the darkness is an entrance only one could dream of
-
I remember this! This was during the writers strike back in '07(?) and they had to come up with ways of continuing on while supporting their writers. BRILLIANT.
-
Loved how their shows were portrayed as they were all taped near each other. Now that’s great comedy!
-
And the irony is then Conan went to cable tv and Stephen went to network tv.
-
As soon as Stewart laughed, Conan became king of late night comedy. When Colbert laughed, Conan became immortal.
-
the most ambitious crossover in late night tv history.
-
I swear Conan's hair has it's own manager, pa, publicist, and dressing room.
-
the golden age of late night television
-
1:24 Conan entering from the shadows with his cartoonishly large body/hair/jawline paired with his freakishly tiny mouth/lips, looks like something out of the WWE
-
I like how while they were determined to kick each others ass they still respect the integrity of each person’s job, waiting patiently for each other to wrap their respective taping before the big showdown 😂
-
16 years later we've got another writers strike. Can late night rise to the occasion the way these three did?
-
4 things I love: Conan O’ Brien, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, and Arctic Monkeys 😊
-
Conan would win. Dude's got an obvious reach advantage, he's a clever trickster, and there's the ol' Irish factor -- dude's bred to fight and take a pounding.
-
I love how much Conan towered over Jon
-
I love Jon trying not to laugh when Conan talks
-
Conan seemed a lot happier when he was on Late Night.

This was during the writers' strike. They needed easy material to kill minutes. Even so it was good satire of host-to-host drama that is lost on most viewers these days.
-
This was the best piece of television running during the writers' strike, easily.

I was only 14 when this went down, but I can only imagine how important this was for television audiences. The WGA strike took out production for every prime time show, and this was before the internet became big and streaming services became a thing. Talk shows had to go on but they didn't hire any new writers bc of the strike so a lot of content produced during these couple of months wasn't as structured and a lot more loose. As a result, the strike forced Conan, Colbert, and Jon to create amazing comedy out of nothing. I wish Conan got to do more work w/ Jon and Colbert. He's been on Colbert's show a couple of times and both Jon and Colbert had cameos when Conan visited NYC a decade ago but those guys working in the same city could've produced a good amount of comedy chaos if Conan had never moved to L.A.
