This is part 8 in the ongoing series through the Gospel of Mark covering theology, apologetics, historical/cultural insights and life application through a verse by verse study of the Gospel of Mark with pastor Mike Winger.
Today's study covers Mark 2:1-12 and will deal with a supposed "Bible contradiction", why Jesus was accused of blasphemy, how to interpret and apply the miracles of Jesus, a short survey of how Jesus used the title "Son of Man" in Mark, and some beautiful truths about prayer and forgiveness.

You may notice several times when I have edited this video. When I was teaching I was coughing and just edited out the coughs. You aren't missing any of the teaching, just the hacking.

"If your faith is in Christ, and Jesus is alive, then you can't die." Absolutely love this.
  • Mike: "Ministry is not about me affirming my own spiritualiry" Me: "Ouch"

I get so much out of these lessons, simple little nuggets like the fact that Peter refers to the writings of Paul and equates them to scripture in the same verse. Amazing context and historical references. These tidbits of info draw me deeper into the story, it causes me to want to be there with them experiencing all of it. I pray the LORD allows me to walk in my relationship with him in this way, real, tangible and alive. I am so grateful for continued growth in my relationship with the Trinity. We all have so so much to learn which causes me to want to have so much more patience and grace for those who don’t believe. It’s a lot to learn and take on as your own in your own personal walk with Jesus the messiah. So good man, so good.

I always think how hard would it be to leave Jesus and go home after he healed you and forgave your sins. I would want to stay with him!

Love the point about the tale of two cities "contradiction" - "the best of times the worst of times" ....
  • I spent the first few years of my Christian faith knowing how unworthy of Christ I am that it hurt me to know that he loves someone as broken as me.

Great teaching thank you Mike, some good quotes from you in this one I like that one "You're evil man with a smile if you preach forgiveness without Jesus Christ" I agree with you about culture today: affirming your flaws, your sin, your desires, rejecting change. People today surround themselves with people who are all enjoying the same things/sin/lifestyle, and if you believe different and disagree in an opinion you are ostracized or called bigot or homo/trans phobic, say your waiting for marriage get called a prude/killjoy. But we must persist in faith in our message and in the gospel shake the dust of our feet and keep loving others in word and deed. Thanks again for the message i'm going to keep hoping and praying in Christ. God bless you brother.
