24-year old me in 1993 would never have imagined that as a 54-year old I would be watching a 24-minute video end-to-end "online" about a sub 5-second Doom run in 2024. What a time to be alive! Oh, sorry. Wrong channel. ;-)

After grinding for years on the Doom Speedrun Discord asking for an Doom 2 E1M1 4 second run, on April 16th, 2024, Karl Jobst achieved this video...

Achievements like these are why I rarely say that something is "impossible". Three seconds? Well, "we have no TAS at the moment", "we wouldn't know how to do it right now", "not to our knowledge", but new strats and glitches have been found in other games, even after decades, before. The fighting spirit with which runners go at these challenges is truly inspiring, and Karl, your videos about them are an absolute blast to watch. You've really perfected the way you report about them and seeing your video about a game I play myself as well on my feed instantly makes my day. Thank you!

Silly Bitchell did it in 3 seconds today. He recorded the TV screen with a 3€ camera, while being outside through a dirty window. He sent the VHS tape to twin galaxies already.

Something Id also like to add to even further convince you how much of a beast 4shock is, (If that even needed doing) is the fact he also beat every single other category for the level too, UVMax, Nightmare Speed, Tyson, all of them. While 4.97 is by far the most impressive run, Its rare for a player to be able to compete at the absolute highest level in every category, and it truly is incredibly impressive.

Thanks to all Doom runners for ramping up the pressure for decades, to all fans for media interest, without either this wouldn't have been such a blast. And to Karl for amazing coverage.

Dude, this is CRAZY. My friends and i used to try this particular run around 2015ish cuz its so short lol. Im honestly amazed by this runner. Theres levels to this! On another note, condolences on your mom and health issues. Just lost my best friend who speedran with me in January. We love u Karl, keep kicking ass
