The selling is because people have lost interest in luxury bags alongside the steep decline in quality and style. We’re living in times where there are very real problems going on and no one wants to hear the words “luxury collection”, “luxury journey” etc.

I’m 70, debt and mortgage free. But… I’m now a widow and wish I had a husband to travel & make memories. Work hard and pursue your dreams. We are not promised tomorrow. I like “shopping “ through you. You put legs to my shopping adventures that I don’t have access to. I just love you and who you are. ❤️ Carpe Diem!
  • @LisaCulton
I didn't purchase the luxury bags to be a part of a "collection" but to use them daily, so I have no reason to sell.
  • Not really about bags, but I actually really enjoy your videos where you are just showing us a slice of your life. Taking a walk, taking the car in, baking something, playing with Jessie. I find that content both relaxing and fun.
  • You’re right luxury fashion is fast fashion now we are bombarded with new collections every 3 months !
  • @shawolsarah
I suddenly lost interest in my luxury handbags and jewelry collection after having my first child. I still kept a few classic pieces for formal occasions, but it's unlikely I will buy any new pieces. As a new mom, I'm only carrying huge canvas tote bags, or practical backpacks.
  • During the pandemic we had nothing to do but buy luxury bags and accessories. Then the designers got wind of that and started to raise prices on their most coveted bags and we couldn’t even get our hands on some of them. Now that life is a bit normal we prefer to be out and travel and experience memories. Inflation is at an all time high. We need money to eat, pay mortgages, rent, utilities and gas for our vehicles. The luxury houses robbed us with their bad quality of bags. It’s a toxic cycle that is now time to break!! Thanks for this video Sophie🫶🏽
  • I have also slowed down on luxary shopping these past few months. I’ve slowed down because it doesn’t really make me happy anymore. I’ve been buying luxary for 12 years now and happy with my collection. Im so glad I purchased these items years ago because these prices now 🥴

I think what has made a big stir in the luxury bag community is Niki Sky getting rid of her entire collection

I’m a small youtuber but I’m not selling anything. Ever! 😂 It took me a long time to get my collection of classic bags and each one was bought deliberately and not impulsively. So I use & enjoy all of them. I guess it may have something to do with the reason why you bought anything in the first place. If it’s because it was a trend or you felt you have to have it because ‘everyone’ has it and not because you yourself want it, you might get bored with it after a while. I don’t know why YTs seem to sell a lot lately, just guessing. Great topic Sophie.

Using the bag money and pay off the mortgage is pretty wise. The price hike etc smells of greed which is a big turn off.
  • @kkat54
    Could it just be finances???

I go through my wardrobe every six months and get rid of anything that either doesn't fit or I don't like anymore. I usually sell my items as they're mostly designer, otherwise it goes to charity shop. I've been doing this for years as I don't want to end up with too much stuff like those people from "Sort out your life" program. 😂

Sophie, I like watching your chitchat more than your shopping culture videos - especially the ghost stories! 😂

    I retired at 38. Currently 46. 😁 Good luck! It’s the best!

I’m selling some of my bags because I’m not using them. Some of them (Prada) are too heavy now to carry regularly. I’m 76 and using lighter (Longchamp) bags. Over time, things change! I use The Real Real.
  • @Haydee483
Great video 10 years ago I spent lots of money on designer stuff. I’m 45 and no more expensive stuff I’m traveling for the past 4 years and I’m loving it.. I’m in a different state of my life.. I appreciate little things..
  • @Wenirl
It is also part of getting older and more mature. There is a reason why retailers focus on marketing to 35 and under.
  • @susanuchida586
100% agree re purchasing previously loved. Older items are much better quality and look amazing
