Even after all this time, it still cracks me up that the battle effectively comes down to "yeah, Nightmare's more powerful, but Guts doesn't care."

I feel like an under-rated feat of guts' is when after fighting the kushan army, fighting alongside zodd to take out the emperor, being struck by lightning, falling hundreds of feet and taking so much damage the berserker armour DEACTIVATED, he got back up despite being utterly exhausted just to talk smack to a different army of demons for no other reason than to prove a point

I like how even after killing Nightmare. Guts still decides to shoot a few more arrows at him just to be safe

Also to anyone confused as to why Nightmare's Soul Wave didn't kill Guts immediately by devouring his soul and haven't read Berserk. I should tell you that those who have read Berserk will know the rather terrifying reason why; Griffith, upon becoming Femto, claimed ownership of Guts' soul with the Brand of Sacrifice, so Griffith owns Guts' soul, and nobody else can take it or sacrifice it in any sort of way. Meaning that Griffith was one of the major factors in why Guts didn't die.

I like how at the start when they cross blades the first couple times before guts overpowers him for the first bit nightmare has to look at his sword for a second like"you good? You working? Cause this shouldn't be happening.."

I never heard of Guts before this and I thought Nightmare had this in the bag. Then I decided "hey let me read a few chapters of Berserk to see what this Guts guy is about." Oh dear sweet salty Christ, Nightmare never stood a chance.

Fun fact: you can actually power through exhaustion for a short period of time, as long as you want something bad enough. Especially when you have strong mental willpower.
