I just loved how it talked in a largely visual language and through music, I admire it more as an ethereal audio visual experience which focuses on how it tells it's story through colour, framing, motifs, camera angles, symbolism, music and non verbal acting rather than the substance of the story itself. That honestly elevated the film and I think that is why it is admired so much, it's a truly cinematic experience by design with each frame packed with meaning, rather than simply a story being translated through the medium of cinema. You get lost in it instead of merely watching it, and it stays with you afterwards because of that. It's a great work of cinematic craftsmanship.

One of my very favorite films and one of the best of the 21st century.
-
I don't get how anyone could see this film as boring. It was extremely intense. Gripping.
-
I find it odd regarding Albert Brooks' presence in this film that nobody has mentioned his role in a similar driving film. Commonly known as Taxi Driver.

This film blew me away big time. It was nothing like what I was expecting it to be. At first I was like what is going on say something do something and I thought I knew what was coming a predictable doomed relationship an abusive ex-con husband....cue the drama. but then I started to tune into what was being done with the two main characters and the acting is magnificent. You don't need a lot of dialogue for great actors to do great acting. And I did not see the depth of his psychotic tendencies coming. The elevator scene was really beautiful.....very powerful. And the music at first I thought it was a bit off but then I got it....and the sound...the heightened sound of things happening, and in slow motion it put you right into his shoes and even though he is a total psycho you end up routing for him and caring about him. :O just thrilled by it......and totally surprised. That so very seldom happens anymore with trailers that give away the whole movie and leaves nothing for the audience to discover or be surprised/shocked by. But this film......:) :) :) :) :) :)

How can you review this film and not mention the soundtrack? It's outstanding and deserves credit. Best film so far this decade.

Drive is pure arthouse exploitation cinema. In any other directors hands it would have been a generic action movie, Refn has class with his movies and he distills it to the core mechanics and gives us a hard edged 80s themed brilliant film

I bought the dvd just before i was told it was rubbish. Watched it about a month later. It is stunning

This film let's pictures tell the story. You know exactly what's going on. Masterpiece.
-
I absolutely loved the film...the slow burning pace sets up the ultra violent climax brilliantly. And my God...the soundtrack was just stunning.
-
This film is going to be a classic, I loved every minute of it and was constantly moved by both the visuals and the music. Ryan Gosling is brilliant in it, as well as many others. Outstanding and in my all time Top 5.
-
Drive is my favorite film of all time.
-
all these people saying Gosling can't act. ever see Half Nelson or The Believer? even Lars and the Real Girl
-
The idea that this wasn't even nominated at the Oscars is just mind blowing.
-
Drive is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. Awesome soundtrack too.
-
I saw the film after it left the cinema. Bought the DVD, not really having any expectations...and I fell in love. A simplistic, beautifully directed, scored and edited piece of work.
-
This is Nic Winding Refn's best film. Easily. I LOVE the Neon Demon. . . . but Drive is perfect.
-
I just finished watching this. Going to have to watch it a second time to appreciate it I think.
-
