There are many options to consider when it comes to protecting your home and family. Some of the most effective approaches include installing an alarm system, getting a guard dog, and using motion-activated lights or cameras. Additionally, it’s important to practice safe behaviors such as locking doors and windows and keeping an emergency kit on hand.

  • Very true. 24 years ago, my one experience in this area was when a guy kicked in my front door while we were asleep. (However, he did try the back sliding door first). Fortunately, I had the element of surprise as he thought no one was home and startled him so badly, he bolted.

I believe I had an attempted invason yesterday. Someone knocked softly on my front door and a couple of seconds later I heard my doorknob beng rattled, attempting to open. I leave my doors locked almost all the time. Even n my small town. By the time I got to the door the man was walking across my lawn to a waitng car. I asked wehat he wanted and he stated that they were looking for houses for sale in my area. Told hm my house wasn't for sale and pointed out a For Sale sign on my next door neighbor's home. He acknowledged me and left. If my front door had been unlocked I am sure he would have entered my house, thinkng it was empty. Moral of this story is keep your doors locked.
  • Here's a quick tip from Paul Harrell.. Get a fire extinguisher. For all the thousands of dollars people put into their AR build + ammo + training you're more likely to be the victim of a fire than a home invader. Spend $100 on a decent fire extinguisher. (Ideally 2 or 3.)

I’m a non Leo employee at a jail, although I don’t have much interaction with inmates anymore it is a concern of mine that one of them may think we are a soft/easy target.

Great insights here; I’ve never thought nor heard about checking your systems during both day and night time hours. Great ideas!
  • All the home security in the world is great but nothing trumps good watch dogs
  • I got to Cane corsos and a Pitbull Shar-Pei mix you can't even drive down my road without me knowing, by that time I'm already ready and anybody that wants to come through a window or door they're going to have a real fun time
  • Jason, thank you so much for sharing these extremely helpful tips to the little guys like myself. God bless you and your family!

Awesome info! I was just earlier today reading about a few violent home invasions near my neighborhood. I have alarms and some other stuff but I think I have to up my game. Those window break alarms are a great idea. Gonna look into those. I love this channel!
  • Great info! Always appreciative of the advice of an ex-CIA, military, or police officer. My personal home defense revolves around several layers. First we have a burglar alarm that’s monitored. Secondly we have cameras that not only record to the cloud but also have movement tracking and lights so that follows anyone that comes into range. We have enough security on our points of entry that it will take some effort to get inside giving me time to react, and of course the alarm sounds like an air raid klaxon, and if all of that isn’t enough to scare them off I have my 1911 with hollow points that will make quite an impression on them and even though I was never in the service due to a back injury I had playing football I can shoot accurately that is considered respectable by most of my friends who are ex-military so I feel pretty comfortable in my plan to defend my family and home. I’d rather scare off the crack head but if I’m faced with him or my family I have no concern that I won’t open fire.

Wow! While watching this, I realized a few glaring issues just looking around my place AND my secure workplace...and I'm viewing this at night! Great advice! I'm going to bring up this topic at my next safety meeting as well as recommending your YouTube channel for further insights. Thank you for sharing your experiences and your knowledge with us. Blessings to you and your family and all your endeavors, Jason. 🙏 Knowledge Is power and action preserves it.🇺🇲
