I wonder how many of the Russian missile are still in working order if tritium have a half life of 12.5 years and many of the russian missiles are 30-40 years old (and even older) are still in working condition. USA spend 44 billion a year on maintaining nucliar weopons alone , In compare Russia spend 66 billion on its complete military alone and they have a bigger missiles (as what both party claim is true in missile numbers) Yes both have a stock of tritium but these are not big just because the halflife is 12.5 years and it because useless. manufacturing it cost about 30.000 usd to 100.000usd a gram depending on quality and its very very difficult and a foundry to make only good for a few years because of radiation and cost billions to make one ( only 5 in world are fucition) Russia 1 China 1 USA1 UK 1 France1. (natural tritium is so rare that only around 7 to 8 kilo exist in the world) every warhead needs about a 4-10 gram ( thats if take just 4 gram about 7 billion just for tritium not rest of maintenance included) this is not calculate launchers and missile bases etc.... I agree russian can get more bang for the buck as labour etc.. is cheaper but i can not immaging that you can maintain +6000 nukes on just 66 billion . Ok even if only 10% are in good shape they still enough to destroy earth 10x over but i think the numbers that both claim to have should be hold with a pinch of salt (lets say bag)
