Honestly I agree, leaving town and leaving Vito in charge in my opinion is the best and definitive ending.

Yup, I chose this ending..Vito is the most level headed of the two, and for me, Lincolns only goal was to kill Sal..this was a perfect ending

This game had some flaws but the soundtrack, Vito's bucatini and Donovan owning the Senate made up for it imo

Man we need a Mafia 4 set in the 70's going into the 80's have it take place in Las Vegas kinda like the movie Casino with the same outcome

James and Donovan are the Angel and Devil on Lincoln’s shoulders. Does he follow James and leave town? Follow Donovan and betray his underbosses? Or carve his own path? I personally prefer leaving town but rule together is also valid in my eyes.

The city prospers under Lincoln and his lieutenants or under Vito alone. But only when Vito takes over, we know for sure he is still alive, enjoying his retirement.

John can be a little bit of an asshole, but he was one of my favorite characters in the game. I especially loved his and Lincoln's interactions throughout. I wonder if he ever found the rest of those conspirators?

When Maguire says that he going to be waiting for Lincoln to get caught it personally scares me for this ending.

I remember reading years ago by one of the developers where he hinted this was the true cannon ending. Lincoln right from the get go never wanted to run the city. He just wanted revenge for what happened to his family. He achieved that. This should be the ending of his arc and journey as a character. I hope I'm Mafia 4 they allude to this to be cannon.

I wish in a mafia 4 we somehow see that this is the only canon ending. Nothing else made sense.

In this ending I felt bad for Lincoln not knowing where he belongs had a beautiful meaning of living by the sword
