The Hurricane '59 meets it's genuine 1959 Burst Inspiration at ATB Guitars!

In December 2022, we headed down to ATB Guitars in Cheltenham, UK with the Hurricane '59 for a day of geeking out and comparisons with a couple of pals and 2 genuine 'Bursts...a '59 & a '60!
It's a very rare opportunity to play a burst, let alone choose between 2 and be able to hear the subtle differences between the newly built Hurricane '59 and it's legendary vintage inspiration.
All the guitars were plugged directly into a 1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb into a Universal Audio Ox Box then into Logic with no other processing.

I can hear differences between all the guitars for sure but you've done a fantastic job of creating something that is very very true to the best of the burst legacy. Congratulations. Tasty playing as always Joe.

The burst sounds fatter and creamier than the Hurricane...and that astonishing faded top is simply fantastic.

Im impressed! Im an obsessed maniac tooo...thos is alll i doo..compare bursts. Gonna be building soon...I think the old one. Was more resonant but 70 yrs of being worked in...The 2nd real one has that quack i like... I'll take them all

The 59 sounds a little warmer and a little more musical. But the other guitar sounds real fine. Good job 👍

Wrap it up!. Beautiful creations from Neil and gang. Do they still make the "Fillmore" model still? . I'd say the Ivison gets 98% of the '59s tones and you can put the 2% down to age.

Is the Hurricane based on/inspired by any burst in particular?

The Burst sounds much darker. The Hurricane is much more trebly.
