A shocking murder of a Deaf man named Arshad Ali Sadiq Ali Shaikh has gone viral within the Deaf community.

On Sunday night, two Deaf men, Jay Chavda and Shivjit Singh, were at Dadar Railway Station on platform 11, preparing to board the Tutari Express. The Government Railway Police (GRP) had all passengers queue up to board the general compartment. GRP constable Madhav Kendre, who was on patrol, noticed Jay and Shivjit struggling with a very heavy bag. Kendre became suspicious and approached them, causing Shivjit to flee.

When Kendre instructed Jay to open the bag, he was shocked to find a body wrapped in polythene inside. Kendre immediately took Jay to the Dadar railway police station. With the help of an interpreter, Jay confessed that he and Shivjit had murdered Arshad.

According to the police, Jay revealed that Arshad had been blackmailing him with photographs of Jay and his girlfriend. The three had partied together on Sunday night, and after drinking, Jay and Shivjit beat up Arshad, eventually smashing his head with a hammer. They allowed the blood to drain in the bathroom to prevent it from seeping out of the suitcase later. They then wrapped Arshad's body in a polythene sheet and packed it into the suitcase. Their plan was to take a train to Konkan and dispose of the body, but the alert GRP caught them before they could leave.

After discovering that the murder occurred in Gulalwadi, Pydhonie, the Dadar GRP informed the Pydhonie police. A police team tracked down Shivjit Surendra Singh in Ulhasnagar and brought him to the Pydhonie police station. The police have recovered the hammer used in the crime.

A case has been registered against Jay and Shivjit under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023:
- Section 103 - Murder
- Section 238 - Causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen offender.

The tragic incident has left the Deaf community in shock and mourning.
