  • Shadow Freddy in SFM animations: A creature made from the dark, Is he evil? Is he good? No one knows, He might be NIGHTMARE himself, He guides the children to free them, Or does he work for the wicked purple guy? He is a god among animatronics Shadow Freddy in the Original game: It exist.

Fnaf lore would be much easier to solve if there were a clearer distinction between plot points originating from Scott, which the audience must follow, and plot points originating from the audience which Scott is following due to popularity. I don't think, for example, that Mrs. Afton's staffbot in the secret room in Security Breach would have had Ballora themed coloring if MatPat hadn't popularized the notion, which came from literally zero evidence, that Ballora was Mrs. Afton.

The Aftons have taken over the story so much when we got new main characters (fnaf sb) people made theories that they actually have the spirits of half the important Aftons
  • The thing about Shadow Bonnie that kind of bothers me is that he doesn't change his appearance, despite being able to shapeshift. So either Scott got lazy or somethings up. Also we will never see Shadow Freddy as "Shadow Freddy" again just as "Nightmare".Although even he has been absent since UCN.
  • @Leomafrogo
The pronunciation of Shadow Bonnie's real name was way better than i was expecting
  • @serisdovakhin
If i had to take a swing i think its simply that there isnt much you can explore with the shadows and scott just quietly slid them off the table for the sake of not having too many active beings in the story.
  • Well you see, the Shadows returned to the Shadow Realm from whence they came. But seriously, I never really noticed how Shadow Bonnie became the more prominent of the two throughout the franchise. Very interesting video. Also, 3:06 is the moment that RWQFSFASXC became Heisenberg.

me and my friends always thought that they are old employees who died in spring lock accidents whether they were good are bad was always HEAVILY debated amongst ourselves

3:25 actually shadow Freddy does appear in a game before Fnaf world. He appears in FNAF 4 as nightmare the code for nightmare has him titled Shadow Freddy. Also Fnaf world does kind of show some there's some new things about Shadow Freddy. It shows he has a broken jaw which made some people think he was possessed by the bite victim.
  • for me the shadows were always just easter egg, and i loved them as that it would be so awesome to have them as a easter egg you would expect in every game, like in fnaf 3 where you have a chance of seeing Shadow Freddy suit in the corner, it would be nice to have them appearing as a recurring easter egg, like having a chance of finding Shadow Freddy in the bed at a corner or shadow bonnie in the closet for examole
  • @Pygargue00fr
Purple is the colors of shadows, knowing this and the fact that up untill fnaf 3, the suit used by the killer was the golden Freddy, here's a simple theory that was made by a French Youtuber Fonkyfouine who at the time, who was clearly advanced for his time (predicting that Fnaf would fall into nonsense after what we got with Sister Location, that the games afterwards would be bad, ect) So here's the idea for shadows freddy and why he probably hasn't came back: "The suit suit of the killer, with the color of the killer" For shadow bonnie trough? Nothing

7:18 "can you believe that unsolved mystery of glamrock bonnie is the biggest thing that happened to bonnie since he lost his face?" hahaha and he wasn't even around for it!
  • @tapseymoth803
The shadows may be gone officially but they still live on in the form of shadow greg and shadow ness where the in game lighting bugs out and turns them into shadow gremlins ^^

What I’m thinking the Shadow animatronics are, is just as stalking entities. Like they don’t actually have relevance to the overall story, but they do exist cause of it, maybe souls that are lost, without a host, so they only watch from the sidelines, or maybe they even just don’t especially want anything to do with what’s going on and just choose to… exist or do whatever they want. I mostly get this feeling cause everytime Shadow Bonnie shows up, he mostly just sorta appears or watches, without much of a motive beyond the 1 thing he and Shadow Freddy did in FnaF 3. And Shadow Freddy does honestly even less, hardly even actually watching or doing anything. So I’m lead to sorta, assume that’s just, all they are, observers. I’m honestly kinda convinced the only reason either of them helped in FnaF 3 was cause it was like, a final stretch moment so the two decided to intervene and finish what couldn’t be finished before. Since they don’t seem to want to hunt after the Aftons or get closure, they just wanna… be around, and do whatever. Unless they’re just, extremely bad at one of those two, since their actions don’t seem to suggest they really care about anything going on as much as every else does
  • @LucasTF
The shadows are probably dark remnant originated from the first (Shadow Freddy) and second (Shadow Bonnie) missing children incident, like that Hyper Droid guy said. It wouldn't make much sense for them to reappear.
  • @sonic8005
I honestly think the problem with the Shadow ones is that there wasn't really a plan behind them. In the first game, it was planned there would be five souls for five missing children with the hints of them being placed within the animatronics themselves. In that regard, even though Golden Freddy was essentially an Easter Egg/hidden character, there was a legit plan behind it. FNAF 2 kinda shows the hints of where Scott started making it up as he went along, with 3 being part of a planned ending and 4... well, kinda where it started to go off the rails a little but at the same time I feel was where the franchise was at it's scariest In any case, with how planned out and how much Golden Freddy fit into the story despite his practically secret appearance, it's ripe for fan speculation and was just perfect all in all. Meanwhlie the shadow animatronics have what I can only describe as no planned story presence and thus no reasoning for being here.
  • Can't believe I actually found video about this two animatronics after all those years! For some strange reason they were always my favourites, and by the times of fnaf 2 and 3 I really hoped they would play some sort of role in story. However, it never happened which I was disappointed about, but I'm just glad people still remember those two little fellas. Though, I might say, shadows do feel out of place now. I wish they actually played bigger role in games
  • @j.a.m.m
At this point I just consider that they're just...there, the headcanon I agree with the modt is that they could be the first victims of a springlock incident (bc spring bonnie and fredbear), but then again there's the issue of SFreddy looking like Withered Freddy and SBonnie looking like Toy Bonnie (why don't the two have the appearance of the same type of animatronic, etc) But ultimately, it's not like they matter much anymore in the lore, so, eh
  • 3:05 I've never heard someone do that successfully. That's quite impressive. Anyways, the Shadows. They're very interesting, but seemingly just were a resource that went unused and eventually forgotten due to that lack of use. I think they were originally merely meant to fill the same role as Golden Freddy, then just 'The Yellow Bear', did in FNaF 1 - a very, very rare easter egg encounter, which had seeming implications of just outright forcing the player out of the loop of nights, given they forcefully crash the game. This particularly since Golden Freddy was more of a character in FNaF 2, and as such couldn't exactly have just a mechanic that breaks the game and closes it. Another character who straddles the line between these is the loose endo in that same game - seemingly, all of these are not even particularly lore-relevant, but instead just various tension-building scenes and hallucinations and the like. Most certainly, the lore shifted a lot in those earliest games, to the point of the first not really having all to much in terms of it, until it got to the focus we have now, but back then it seemed to much more be a matter of trying to break the cycle through these esoteric, strange means which weren't really easy to understand, up until someone apparently did try to make sense of it all and just made it all the more confusing - now we're here, and now they just don't fit anymore. FNaF 3 leaned so heavily into the easter egg characters that they weren't even that anymore, just more of a secret to get that so-called good ending. FNaF 4 still has them - in fact, Nightmare himself is seemingly Shadow Freddy, just fitting the line more. He even retains the FNaF 2 and FNaF 3 appearance of matching his golden counterpart, but not the normal Freddy (who in FNaF 3 appears to be not present beyond the costume near the office door, since Phantom Freddy is in fact yellow). I do wonder what Scott might add of these sorts of things if he ever did remake FNaF 1, from perhaps a different Golden Freddy appearance or more showcases of the different meaningful hallucinations that might be there. I don't think we ever did get confirmation that Springtrap was even in that pizzeria, to be fair, and things like that - I've certainly seen interpretations try to explain otherwise. 7:18 I wouldn't say quite that. Springtrap is also a Bonnie model, although peoples' insistence on naming him after a season is infuriating to say the least, and he was a little later than the Withered, so technically up until FNaF 6 came out with.. that.. for a remodel, he too existed as a part of the Bonnie line. And Bon-Bon was certainly an interesting take on the design, too - the Funtimes as a whole are just quite unique in a lot of ways.
