Before Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin was ever released, BATMAN TRIUMPHANT (or Batman Unchained) was greenlit as the sequel. It was to star once again George Glooney as Batman but also NICOLAS CAGE as Scarecrow and either Madonna or Courtney Love as Harley Quinn. It was meant to be a movie for adults and far darker than Batman and Robin. We read the script, thanks to our buddy Jordan and here's the Batman Triumphant script recap.

Hey! If you guys are looking for the script some google reddit magic can pull it up as I'm not sure if we're allowed to link it? Anyways just google "Batman Triumphant script Mark Protosevich" and you'll be able to find the script we read.
  • This script is actually a fan made one. The real script by Mark Protosevich was different. It had Batman being locked up in Arkham Asylum after suffering delusional epsiodes of The Joker and nightmares of previous villains putting him on trial. There was no nightwing nor Batgirl but Bruce and Dick separate until the end climax.

Batman Returns is probably my favorite Batman movie...nostalgia included...and that opening scene is classic..and the ending is great...I’d like to see Keaton and Burton do one more Batman movie...really think they could pull it off

The other thing about Clooney coming back would be that he was done with ER by 1998. Which means he could've been totally focused on the film. He was working 7 days a week the year he shot Batman.

It was a tough week in my life, sadness was a little too much to take so I found myself watching a lot of old WWAM skits. Forever grateful for all the smiles.
  • I think Arnold Schwarzenegger shouldve returned as Victor Fries in a supporting role where he is now an ally to Batman and Robin

Seeing both of your beautiful faces this morning put me in a good mood. Hi, guys!
  • it was cool to hear about a script that wasnt filmed that had to do with a batman movie.
  • I remember when this was being discussed way back before batman Begins, the article I read was saying Jenny McCarthy would have played Harley. Maybe her job would be to persuade people not to vaccinate themselves against Scarecrow's gas. Myself, I've always wanted to see Crispin Glover as Scarecrow. Watch him in American Gods, or The Doors, and tell me you can't see it.
  • This script sounds pretty cool actually, too bad we'll never see it. The idea of Robin becoming Nightwing was awesome. Nic Cage as Scarecrow? Can you say perfect casting. Great video guys!

Even though the script has been debunked to be a fan script, I would've liked to have seen the general idea played out on the big screen........but only if Keaton was brought back as Batman. Clooney swore to never suit up again after B&R and I don't think anything would've convinced him otherwise. The actual Batman Unchained script has never been leaked according to writer, which is why the Triumphant one doesn't line up perfectly to what he's talked about like Harley being Joker's daughter and the hallucination scene of multiple past villains. I do have an idea as to how the cost concerning that scene could've been relaxed: only bring back Nicholson, DeVito and Pfeiffer since they're the specific villains Keaton interacted with. Just to give a sense of continuity that Clooney being Batman wouldn't have and also driving the price tag down by not bringing back Carrey and Lee Jones. And to be honest, I wouldn't bring back O'Donnell or Silverstone either just to completely separate from Schumacher's first two films. P.S. Please do a script recap of DarKnight since it's a real script that was actually written around 2000 as a potential follow-up to Batman & Robin!

While Batman Triumphant would have been cool to see I do appreciate The Dark Knight Trilogy we got. Nic Cage as Scarecrow would have been awesome.
  • The Cage Man fits any role!!!!!!!!!! btw amen for giving credit to FROM DUSK TILL DAWN! AMEN BROTHA!
  • @DinoReviews
Seeing Robin become knight wing would have been quite cool, but I’m not totally sold on the script 😅 it sounds just a tad bit too crazy
  • For those who don't know elements of this were used in the game Arkham Knight. Such as: Joker being dead but coming back via hallucination. Batman being held captive in Arkham Asylum. All the movie villains from 89-97 (minus Bane) being present. Batman being infected.
