👋 hey there, enjoy this content? consider becoming a channel member: youtube.com/channel/UCHdoOrwo__5kf2qXwdyVdww/join My overall recommendation would be to choose both an "S Tier" browser for your general, non-personal internet browsing (reading the news, posts, anything you don't log in for basically), and an "A Tier" or possibly "B Tier" browser for less frequent, more personal browsing (like banking, social media, etc.). This is because Mullvad/Tor Browser don't save cookies, browsing history, or other site data which makes them a bit inconvenient for sites you regularly log in to. Splitting your browsing habits across two browsers gives you the best of both worlds

It says ultimate browser list but it seems that the only thing in consideration here is privacy and transparency and yes that’s super important, but having features and speed is also important and that was completely overlooked here. This video should be called “the ultimate private browser list” And just to clarify I don’t know this channel I was just looking for videos about browser comparisons.
  • @Toaster-uy7lk
Seems like you forgot pissandshittium (yes this is an actual browser)
  • @NasirElShabazz
never knew there were people that knew so much about every iternet browser
  • @Otto500206
How can this be the "ultimate" one when you are listing based only on privacy and security?
  • @MarcHershey
This "2024 Ultimate Browser Tier List" is pretty subjective, and frankly, missing some key criteria. Functionality seems entirely absent from your rankings. How is Firefox (Hardened) above Firefox when it breaks 20% of the sites it visits? You also put Tor browser on A tier? Come on.. functionality/usability is a huge part of the "tier" of a browser. What about extensions, secondary features, GUI, UI, ecosystem / multi-device integration, ease of use, etc? On top of all that, there are no sources to support claims about things like telemetry data or security. Accusations like 'low security practices' deserve citations. The title should really be "My opinion of the most secure / private browsers in 2024"
  • Vivaldi def deserves at least C tier. I don't like Chromium based browsers (using hardened FF currently) but Vivaldi is just a joy to use. Any one who remembers the old Opera knows what I'm talking about. :eyes-purple-crying:

I use Librewolf on Linux with Ungoogled Chromium as a backup, Mull on Android, and Vanadium as my Android WebView. I totally understand your Librewolf criticism, but since I use a package manager, automatic in-browser updates don't really matter to me. I choose Librewolf over Mullvad browser because I prefer a community built browser. I mostly agree with your tier list. 👍

I definitely don't see how Brave is worse than hardened firefox, past the crypto stuff (which you hide on setup) Brave blocks tracking and ads out of the box even on websites like Spotify, literally the best browser for Android and on web they have a tor integration.
  • @Kig_Ama
This is one of the best videos about browsers. Thank you. I used chrome a lot but since youtube is broken when u use chrome I changed to brave and I must say the experience I have with brave when I use YT is sooo awewsome.
  • I am REALLY enjoying using the Arc browser. I feel like it spoiled me to the point I can't go back to others; it's such a good UX, especially after you learn their shortcuts. It takes some time to get used to it, tho, because it has a very different layout.
  • @alecs7506
pretty based overall although I do not agree with the librewolf rating. also I personally think 0days will always be available and I do not like the auto update logic you are so focused about
  • @scottporter7779
Is ecosia browser on android actually private? What tier would it get?
  • @vir-daw
You forgot to rank from best-to-worst/left-to-right within each tier at the end 😉
  • @JohnXionidis
Great video thank you for all these detailed information for each browser! I'll be probably switching to Brave from Chrome.
  • other than ublock origin, which addons (and other things) do you need to add to arc for it to be "secure enough" (like i'd say maybe b tier>)
  • @TheDetonation
You really shouldn't be calling it an ultimate tier list if you're basing it purely on security and privacy. There's more to browsers than that, despite how important those aspects are.

BTW any company that's involved in AI will try their best to get their hands on as much user data as possible, as that's what they train AI on.
  • @sinnerpiece
vivaldi IS actualy open source but its kinda hard to find it ( /source after the normal vivaldi link) i do think it should get alteast a B tier because it has alot of customizability and very good features, very good browser for people like me who use break mode all the time to hide what we are seeing from people who pass by.
  • It makes me so happy that you gave Google Chrome an F. I've always HATED this browser for so many reasons. I've never been able to figure out why people seemed to love it so much. My favourite browsers have been Firefox (although, that relationship pretty much ended a few years ago; still have it installed and use as a 'backup' now and again for certain things), currently using Brave but just this morning, I started thinking about checking out some other browsers as it's been a few years since I've done any research on what's available. That's how I just found this video. Very thorough and informative; thank you :) I've just downloaded Tor and will be trying it out for awhile to see how we 'get on'. I've known about Tor for quite some time but had just never taken the next steps of downloading and using. Thanks again for all the research you put into making this video.
