Comparison of Carr Rambler Triode mode (mostly) in contrast to Carr Telstar with power attenuator scaled back to 12 oclock. Demo guitar is Collings I-30LC with P90's. Delay is ARP-87. To keep the reverb the same I used a UA Audio Golden Reverberator. It was on the entire length of the demo.

Great video and appreciated the zero star comparison. I will say as a Rambler owner, running the Rambler in triode is not a fair shake to the amp when compared to pentode. Pentode gives a much more a spacious and glassy sound compared to triode.
  • Gary! Great job on the video. Dang I looooooooooooove both amps with the I-30. I hear the upper edge (high-mids) from the EL-84 in the Telstar. Love the crunch at 1:15 on that dang Rambler though

To me the Telstar has an 'upgrade/improved' sound about it. Although, I think the Rambler looks much better. Thanks, Gary!

Tone is awesome. Tough decision so "both" is the right choice but if only one can be had then The Telstar! And that guitar!!!

I love the Triode mode on the Rambler. It's one of the few amps that sounded great to me with everything at noon. I liked that Carr switched from the Wizard to their own speaker - I only use single coils anymore, and their speaker was a touch warmer to me. Great amp! I have never tried the Telstar, so this was cool to hear.

Such a fan of your videos, considering buying Carr Rambler and wondering how it performs in a band mix , live playing, comparing it to Fender amps? Thank you
