Heavy plate, bolts grade 8 but when it comes down to it, what's the shear rate on that 5/8 pin holding your receiver hitch in?

There is no deeper test of a mans inner strength than putting a welding video on youtube
  • @RustyorBroken
Don't knock that slag off. It's the only thing holding it together.

A good welder knows their beads will be the last thing to fail in whatever horror is constructed. Pro Tip: Grade 2 bolt in shear help ensure that.

“Poof-positive: It’s not the Wand, it’s the Wizard”. I come here for the 1-liner’s. Not disappointed.
  • @SueBobChicVid
If I've got to stick weld, I gotta get the paint on her as soon as the slag is chipped off - before anybody see it. Paint is all bubbling and boiling - but it fills the holes.

You are such a sweet nice guy, fabricating a contraption to haul your mother in law to a hotdog eating contest. Thanks for the video !

"All the way over there in your back pocket" 🤣 In this time of self-isolation, never has this been more applicable as our back pockets get further out of reach 😮

I loved it when i was an apprentice, my mate had been on the course and had multiple hours, i had a 30min lesson with an old spark about 2 years earlier and that was all the experience I had. Making plates with thick walled pipes going through them and we had to weld them in place, he was doing them day in day out for days at this point and said oh he'll teach me how to do it. Give it a go first and show me what you can do. All i got told, doesnt matter what it looks like so long as your weld is deep into it. I welded it and it looked like a roller coaster track. He does one and it looks like a bunch of ripples, so we grind them flush and he tried to show me why im crap at welding so he grabbed the plate and smacked the pipe end on the table with my piece, he hurt his hand and mine survived since it was welded in deep. His I barely tapped it and snap, his was only welded on the surface, and poorly at that. At the end of the day, in engineering we dont care what it looks like we care that it works. I still cant do a decent weld but I was sure better than that guy!

Damn, the empire of dirt must have claimed that 50lb can of 7018 you grabbed from the usual gettin' spot. You're the gettin' spot now brother.
  • @ZippoX05
Last time we used the beads my wife pull started me like a lawn mower
  • "What's that over there?" Why i believe it's a big bag of misdirection. LOL.

My friends say I am good at creative swearing but you sir are the master
  • As a former licensed production welder on mig/mag, tig and stick. It will do the job. Stick welding is like meditation to me. it's like smoking a pipe or waiting on a woman, You can't rush it.
  • @BrianNavalinsky
This video made me feel much better about myself and my welds. Thanks!
