My husband passed away recently. I am moving from our home of 44 years. It is a huge endeavor. I am sorting and purging as I pack. I think my future self is going to thank me for this method of packing. I will say, Packing and moving is no joke and I’m getting tire.

Pro tip from someone with chronic illness: say the words "I'd like it noted that I asked for this test and you said no" and most doctors will then order the test for you. Advocating for yourself is so hard. So it helps to have your words ready beforehand. This whole video was GREAT!!

This is why I love this woman. She's willing to show her messy areas to all of us, so we can see it's possible. It's doable. Even an organizing specialist has seasons where she struggles to keep her house. It gives me encouragement for myself and my house.
  • Oh my gosh… just what I needed. Thank you Cas 1. 3 Zones list 2. 60 min time limit 3. Audio distraction to help you focus on the task 4. Identity your ‘block’ in the space (e.g. what’s causing you to procrastinate or avoid) Goal… moving forward and seeing progress. Incentive to come back so it doesn’t seem so overwhelming. Looking forward to using these techniques
  • My whole house is as messy as your garage! 😭 But this video is just what I needed on a Friday night. My kids are in bed, my husband is out with a friend, so I’m setting a timer for 60–putting on an Audible book! Our main living space is my goal! 🦸‍♀️
  • I used to be a hoarder married to a hoarder. We could not get the house clean. I had to move out to overcome my tendency to hoard. I discovered your channel in my current apartment.
  • Hey Cass. I set the alarm for 60. I cleared up 2 big laundry baskets I had been sorting into for donation. I went for 43 mins. Till my back was telling me stop. ( herniated discs). But in that time a hurdle was crossed. Now, load the van, lift the saved items in the container onto its shelf and appreciate accomplishing a goal today. Thanks for the video. Get better soon!

So MUCH better! I heard from a decluttering guru years ago that so often we have our garages stuffed with clutter, while our vehicles -- which are our second most expensive things we own, after our house -- sit outside, unprotected and exposed to the elements! Priorities. That made me stop and think.

I have been stuck by the idea that I can't do the renovations needed. Four weeks ago I said, I still can't afford those renovations, but I can make it better! Decluttering has been a monumental task to finish. Everytime I do something it does get better and the motivation gets a bit easier.
  • Home from work today, going to rotate from room to room every hour and see how much I can get done (remaining in denial about the garage!) Definitely keep up on all of those health checks and advocate for yourself, changing doctors if need be! For TWELVE YEARS I had pains that I described as feeling exactly like a gall bladder attack (gall bladder was already removed) and doctors kept telling me it was female problems. Until I had a hysterectomy and still had the pain. My gynecologist listened and sent me for an MRI of ALL my organs- stones in the bile ducts of my liver! Sepsis and I nearly died because dozens of doctors wouldn’t look beyond “female problems”.

I was raised with the "do it right the first time" mentality. I cannot put something away with the intentions of fixing it later. I also struggle with comparing my newly clean space to an adjacent space and not cleaning the whole house!!!

Thank you for the PSA at the end. I am glad you stood up for yourself and are healing. A lot of time can be wasted in getting the right diagnosis causing an escalated issue. These tests are not expensive. Why not just do them if for no other reason than to prevent spread? Craziness!

I have a house Full of stuff!! I am recovering from a total hip replacement and a small stroke/TIA. I need to get this house on the market and find something smaller. I am by myself. No help! Thank you for you videos! They are giving me the strength to get this stuff out of here!

My husband and I recently moved into our new house, just 1 week after my C-section. We also have a 2 year old boy😅. What I did that was helpful was, to take pictures of the house before we moved. I was therefore able to organize everything, in my mind, even the kitchen cabinets before we actually moved. (Having a written plan helps a lot). When we moved we just put everything we're they belong, just as I had planned. So moving wasn't so stressful. (I thought this might be helpful ) Love your channel. I watch you every day from Antigua 🇦🇬.

So sorry you were so sick Cass. Strep is horrible, but that the doctor let it develop into pneumonia is really shocking! I strongly suggest that you change doctors. Please don’t blame yourself for not fighting hard enough for decent care. With a good doctor , you wouldn’t have had to! Honestly, strep tests are pretty matter of course for a really bad sore throat.Three visits before you even got a test is not a sign of a caring or thorough physician. Hope you heal up completely and quickly. We all love you and want the very best for you. ❤️💕

Thank you for being so real and relatable, Cas! From everything to decluttering to having to stand up for yourself at the doctor's when you've had a history of thinking you were dying when everything was fine. You always make me feel better about my imperfections and super motivated to get into action. Get well soon! Love you, Cas!
  • "Power of an hour" Yes girl ❤ Decluttering is so overwhelming! Love your videos.

I did get encouragement!! Paperwork is my BLOCK! As I listened and watched, I picked up all my scattered files. Hung up jackets and robes, and have time to sort the papers. My special distraction is YOU CASS❤
  • I started straightening up my bedroom, giving it priority over the rest of the house they way you suggested, and it makes a big difference in how I am sleeping. It lifts my mood to go to bed and not looking at all the junk that got deposited there. Thank you for your suggestion, Cas! As always, your advice has made a world of difference in my life.
  • So needed this! I’m trying to work on my whole house and it’s definitely been a challenge after all these years. Recently my neighbors were so kind to remove a non working refrigerator from my garage and, just getting that out, has given me the motivation I needed to start cleaning and organizing. One part of me feels like I should complete one room completely before moving on to another but at the same time I keep thinking that anything I do, wherever it is, is definitely an improvement over all. 🤷‍♀️
