Is Shrewsbury Britain's greatest town? Join me on a medieval street tour and an abbey visit to see!

Published 2024-01-12
Join me for my first trip to Shrewsbury, in the county of Shropshire, England. I check out an incredibly ancient abbey , I take a tour around the medieval city and explore some of it's listed buildings that number well into the hundreds. I have a walkthrough into the main shopping streets on a busy Saturday, take a walk to the Shrewsbury Cathedral, all around the old town and tour the great parks. I cross over English Bridge and check out the burst banks of the River Severn.

I'm so proud to call Shrewsbury my home. Apart from the years I spent serving in the Army I lived here my entire life and would never contemplate living anywhere else. I remember bringing one of my mates who served in the Army with me to Shrewsbury for the weekend, he was from Newport Gwent, during the drive to Shrewsbury from Catterick he talked about the wealth of historical interest in Newport, and he said Shrewsbury hasn't got any history worth noting. As soon as we arrived I took him for a little tour and i honestly have never seen anyone so fascinated. He left the army a few months before me and he has recently sold his house in Newport and moved his family here.
