I moved to Pahrump in 2019. I moved from Las Vegas. It was so crowed and crime filled. I lived in a 2-story house that had no back door or yard. The HOA made us keep the porch light on or get fined. It took 20 minutes to drive 3 miles??!! So I live in Pahrump in a 1600 sq ft manufactured home affixed on land on 1/2 acre. I live walking distance to huge mountains. It is so quiet, beautiful and clean air, nice people. I have horses and donkeys coming on my property. To me, the bad things are outweighed by the peaceful, low crime, clean living. Btw the very BEST fireworks show is in Pahrump. Beyond awesome. It is crowdfunded by the people. As the town is not incorporated there are very few rules. SO……Freedom abounds!

Dry hest feels cooler because sweat can evaporate and your skin breathes easier. In Florida, humidity traps sweat and it doesn't evaporate, leaving you covered in sweat, swimming in your shorts.
  • We moved here in 2020 during the pandemic, and we bought an acre of land that we're currently building a house on. The value of our property has already gone up by 40%. We have a beautiful view of the mountains and the lake bed and because there's no light pollution, We can see every star in the sky. It's so quiet and peaceful and so many kind people. It very much has that small town feeling in many ways. I've always been a city girl, but after living here for 3.5 years, I can't imagine living in a big city in a cramped up apartment again. I'm spoiled with all the space we have. Like any city, it certainly has it's pros and cons, but for us at the stage of life that we're in, the pros definitely outweigh the cons.
  • I've lived here 20 years Vickie and you hit on some great points. One major point you left out is the water situation here in this valley. We are rapidly outgrowing the ability of the aquifer to handle the added people, thousands live on property with wells and wells are going dry, a costly fix when one needs drilled deeper. But this problem is a problem throughout Southern Nevada as a whole. I love it here but it is not going to be for everyone.

To each his own, i have been working on moving to pahrump for a year and a half . Just purchased a home in august. Best decision we made leaving vegas , bought a house with almost a acre and half....no hoa , fresh air and the people of pahrump could not be friendlier. Me and my wife love this town. I live on the south side of town and only 40 minutes from Vegas ,it is worth every mile i drive ....i never realized how bad vegas was getting till i moved out here....instead of the helicopter flying over mountain edge atleast twice a week all i hear are roosters , horses and donkeys...music to my ears ....i love it !... The good out way the bad . My dogs can run in our yards . Best decision ive made in years ....just had to get a permit to build a fence and the ladies couldnt have been nicer to me, its crazy how nice people are out here....and lil businesses out here are amazing , that bakery she spoke of is excellent and moms diner is jus awesome...it definitely worth checking out. And it is cooler out here

My parents bought a half acre property in north Pahrump. It was great for them vs when they lived in Vegas. The heat sucked though. They now live in Mound House/Carson City and absolutely love the cooler weather and wild horses.
  • Thank you. I found your video professional, succinct and informative.

One more thing: when the poof dirt gets wet, it sticks to EVERYTHING like thick clay, and it's like glue - very difficult to wash off.
  • Perfect video. Straight to the point with accurate information. Thank you for the report. I appreciate people who know what info people are looking for and don't beat around the bush. 👌
  • Yup a honest review. You failed to mention the medical in Pahrump. It's terrible. Intermountain is terrible. The hospital is a helicopter ride for seriously illness.
  • Thank You for making this video. I love the honesty. I personal like a peaceful small town. My kids and grandkids probably feel they need more. You may see me someday moving into your town 😂❤
  • I'm personally staying in pahrump while I'm visiting lasvegas. It is like fernley Nevada where olive. Can't wait to get there. Prices on hotel friendly forpets is great. well worth staying the 50 miles just not to have to deal with all the crap in Vegas. It was half the price at the best western oasis than staying in Vegas. Pahrump isOK by me!!!
  • Where I live in So Cal I am on swamp land. Pahrump sonds nice. More shopping than there is here. Love the desert.
  • @Nordic_Sky
I own a townhome in Las Vegas and have been to Pahrump several times. It is hot, dusty, and there are very few things to do. Definitely not for everyone.
  • @Seventhstream211
Thank you! Excellent summary and professional assessment of Pahrump. While the title appears to be negative, truth is none of the content should preclude you from moving to Pahrump, given the facts that were given.

I saw some houses in Pahrump on Zillow, and the prices was SOOOO tempting. But then I opened up Google Maps and realized just how desolate it was. Although the price is extremely tempting, I'd spend so much time driving to Vegas, that it wouldn't be worth it.
  • Just discovered your video! Thank you for this information. I'm from Virginia but love Nevada and am looking for some tiny speck of land for a tiny house. I'm glad there aren't many kids there. ;)
  • We lived in Pahrump for 5 years (3 years commuting between Texas and Pahrump). My wife loves the place. The views of the western slope of Mount Charleston are spectacular, but for a city this size (40,000+), the medical services available are atrocious considering the number of retirees living there. We lived in Hafen Ranch (on Doubletree), and it was a wonderful place. So quiet. Everything you mention is true. It certainly beats Las Vegas.
  • I've just moved to Pahrump with my 4 children and I thought that there was lots to do for kids. There is 4H which offers Robotics for all abilities (their most advanced group won state championship and who knows they could have won the world championship if it hadn't been cancelled for COV..) they offer archery and a range of different gun shooting sports, animal classes including dog training and livestock, sewing classes and Minecraft club. 4H is basically free too. Then there are numerous sports available for kids to do such as baseball, football etc as well as dance and drama classes, swimming is really cheap too. There's also scouts and horse riding. Then many of the churches run different clubs too. I don't know how you can say that there isn't much for kids! I did hear that the school district is one of the worst in state but I don't know about that as I homeschool mine.
