I grew up with this level of musical brilliance in England. We were so lucky!!

They were steeped in The Blues, it was their foundation, but then they pushed the music into a whole other stratosphere. Mixing Blues, Rock, Funk, Folk and progressing with every album, you need to experience a bunch of tracks to get any perspective on their range. Each member of the band was so talented and worked together like a machine, which is clearer when you see live footage. They would extend album tracks into long improvised jams, with vocals and lead guitar trading riffs, the drums and bass a total powerhouse. Best to start with tracks from their debut album and work through songs chronologically, check out 'Dazed and confused' next for a slower swampy track. A lot of their stuff has been sampled and often imitated, but no one has come close to matching these guys.

We were supposed to see Led Zeppelin. Had our tickets. So excited. Then heartbreakingly the drummer, John Bonham died 😢. So so sad. Such a huge loss to the music world!
