Makita drills and drivers are the best balance between precision and heavy duty work. I also beat the crap out of my xdt14 and my favorite is the oil impulse driver.
  • @orijimi
The work you did on theinfographics in this have to be the best I've ever seen in the tool review space. Heck of a job.

Thanks for saving me some money. 😂😂😂 If i'm reaching for one Makita impact these days it's the XDT19, numbers or not, it's comfortable and runs all day. GREAT way to come up with a way to translate the numbers into 'real life' usage.

Ive been buying the Japanese versions. I have the 171,172 and the new 173. I have always felt that performance wise they are practically identical and to see that pretty much validated is nice. My main reason for buying each them, besides me being a makita fan boy and tool addict, is each new version just looks that much more comfortable in the hand. It is very true as well. I think they knew that performance was in a great spot with the 171 so it was just tweaks to ergonomics. The 173 is my favorite mostly because of the ring light and the shifted back base balances it really well. I gave my 171 to a coworker friend but i enjoy using any of the 3. The better results you got from the xdt14 perplexed me. I used to have the 14 and when i got the 171 i did some comparisons with different fasteners in a few different materials and the 171 came out faster most of the time. Not by a huge margin but therebwas a difference.

I had the 11, then the 16 and now the 173. Nothing really compares to the ergonomics of the 173 but out of the three the 16 feels like the most powerful. It's a little less balanced but I think it's the best for the money. Good power and all the modes you need if you can ignore the glow ring falling off.
