The Tampa Bay Beach Town That Made Us Sell Everything and Move! | Indian Rocks Beach Florida

Published 2024-04-20
In 2017, my wife and I discovered The Tampa Bay Beach Town That Made Us Sell Everything and Move! Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, is a sun-soaked 2-mile stretch of sugar sand located just south of Clearwater Beach and north of St Pete Beach. If you've dreamed about living the beach life on the Gulf of Mexico, Indian Rocks Beach is for you!

As the locals call it, IRB is one of the best beaches in Florida, if not the United States. While it may not get the recognition that Clearwater Beach, St. Pete Beach, and Madeira Beach receive, I promise you, it is just a stunning as they are.

Living in Tampa Bay has a lot of advantages, but none are better than being able to call Indian Rocks Beach, home.

So before you move to Florida, make sure to explore everything Indian Rocks Beach has to offer. It just might steal your heart too.

  • I was born here, 1958. When I was kid, my mom and dad would rent a cabin there right next to Indian Rocks Fishing Pier. It's gone now. This is a great beach to stay away from the crowd at Clearwater Beach. You may see me walking the beach in the mornings, sight casting for snook and fishing for Pompano this time of year. The next 3 months is a great time to sight cast for snook. Also, I take my boat out and get right off the beach about 150 yards and fish for Tarpon. The Tarpon are showing up right now. If you want to know a real beach bum, it would be me. I know all of these beaches and islands like the back of my hand. As a teenager, I learned how to play every Jimmy Buffett song on my guitar there ever was. I spent so much time on the beaches I swear I had barnacles growing on my toe nails. Just kiddin.....

Just found your channel... I've been looking around the Tampa area to relocate as soon as I sell my current home (in a different state). Looking to do so this summer/fall. What are your thoughts on Sarasota? I'd be looking for a townhouse. Thanks!
  • I love to live in Tampa Bay Florida when I first watched Dolphin Tale movies when I was little since then I always wanted to work with marine animals to become a marine biology some day to work at Clearwater Marine Aquarium in the world that be my favourite dream to live in the future for me. Been living in the same county since 1989! Lots of good, but be aware of issues. It is busy Spring and HOT in Summer. Winters are nice. And Hurricanes are real! Problems are crowding and lately insurance. Insurance rates in Florida are skyrocketing. Do not buy a property that is old and low unless you plan to tear it down. You will have trouble with insurance and risk flooding. Anything that meets current codes is likely ok.

Aren't you afraid of a hurricane, that close to water, it's due to happen every 100 years, I hope not but you're taking big risk.
