South Africa was supposed to be the final destination of our motorcycle journey through Africa.

Because of border restrictions in northern Africa, we changed our plans drastically. We crossed the Mediterranean Sea from Morocco back to Europe. We shipped our Yamaha Ténéré 700’s from Rotterdam in The Netherlands to Cape Town in South Africa. Our new goal is to travel along our initial route in the opposite direction.

We are impressed by the diversity of South Africa, right from the start. Whether you look for breathtaking coastlines, rocky mountains or impressive wildlife. South Africa delivers. We used our tourist visa for the full 90 days while we were wandering through the country on our middleweight adventure bikes.

Welcome to one of the most varied countries we’ve ever traveled to. Welcome to South Africa!

ABOUT US

Hi there and welcome to the motorcycle adventures of Jessica and Maarten! It started with the idea to ride motorcycles from our hometown in The Netherlands all the way down to Cape Town in South Africa. In december 2020 we started our journey on our Yamaha Ténéré 700’s. Morocco was the first African country we visited. Due to closed borders we could not travel further south from there. We turned things around and shipped our bikes to Cape Town. From here we will ride up north. Follow our journey through Africa here on YouTube!

Being from Cape Town, and driving a XT660Z myself, I can tell you fate has brought you to CT for a good reason... your trip plan sounds epic riding in the opposite direction and its a journey we are all jealous of ;(. Enjoy and keep safe! I will be watching closely...

I have congratulations both of you for giving a fantastic video clip of your journey. I personally have ridden all the places you have shown (bravo on your off road skills...baviaansklof is not fir the fainted hearts)... T7 are fantastic bikes...Good choices.
