The NBA vs Hip Hop!

This is the same principle that systemic racism in my area of the country follows as well. When I was a child I was made fun of constantly for having a long braid as a boy. Im native. Teachers even would make fun of it. I played the native kid by default in all school plays. But thats not my actual contention with it. Just one generation ago, father was forcibly assimilated to white AND latino culture. His braid was cut if he were to attend school, he was forced into all the Spanish immersion classes because the white teachers all thought he was Mexican. He was taught spanish and was reprimanded for using our native language. Today, school systems and many other institutions share these ideologic abominations and perpetuate them through less nefarious means of dispersion. Ie; NBA “dress codes” lmao. Man, we are truly fucked if the type of rhetoric these old white dudes like david stern and adam silver promote doesnt die with them. Same with old ladies like betsy devos, our former secretary of education.

I think the transition really started when rappers started dressing like "rockstars" around late 2000s/early 2010s
