54. Doctor Who Locations Guide - The Seeds of Doom

Published 2024-07-04
The Seeds of Doom, a lot of location work for only 3 places, I definitely recommend the house location if you enjoy these sorts of things! At least a years gap in filming between the house and the other locations though, and a even bigger gap for the snowy introduction haha

*Altered, and dangerous, full of flytipping and unsteady ground near the cliff edges due to piles of garden waste

The Seeds of Doom is one of my favourite classic Doctor Who stories. It was like a good mystery thriller.

Love it! Saw the original in the US in about 1978. May have read the US printing of the novelization first!

What a ridiculous idea for a channel!... SUBSCRIBED 😂👍🇬🇧 Best wishes from an Englishman and his bio-mechanical lobster-clawed man-servant now making armour in a secret location in a French forest. But seriously, in the late 80's I was a guest musician at BBC Wood Norton. It wasn't until after the recording (I was previously too nervous to notice), that I realized I was standing exactly where Robot was filmed! So, now locked inside the compound, at 3am when everyone else was sleeping, I went on a secret mission looking through all the sheds for leftover Daleks, Robots or Cybermen... What did I find? (Go in tight on shocked-face then cue Dr Who outro). Best wishes to you. I am going to enjoy binge-listening to you today whilst I finish a strange movie-armour. PS: You sound and carry yourself a lot like Simon Day by the way. (Compliment, as he is a very funny chap).🏆
  • This is amazing. I've only seen pictures and other videos with only the house at a distance. Thank you for making this. I've always wanted to see a closer look. One of my favorite Tom Baker stories too!

I visited Athelhampton last summer , the lady who worked there told me they get lots of Who fans and even had a wedding there with the groom dressed as Tom 😊

Stunning. A classic story from the best era of the show...and the house still looks the same! Not much in add ons or alterations. Even the gardens, shrubs and plants etc have not changed much. The lichen on the stones and its colouring it all looks as it did. That first shot of you outside the house looked like you were in front of Green Screen and a scene from the episode projected but it was real! Wasn't it? Seeing it like that, and the clips with the leaves on the ground took me straight back to dark Saturday nights in the autumn, with me eagerly waiting for Grandstand to stop boring me to death and my show to start...and there was Doctor Who with Tom and Liz and my world was complete. I watched this one with my parents, brother and grandparents as we did each week. It makes me laugh when they claim now they want the under 30 audience! I was about 6 or 7 years old when this was on! My parents late 30s and my grandparents in their 70s....A true family show for all to enjoy...

Good vid of a great story. Unfortunately (I don’t want to be that guy) you’re in the wrong spot at TV Centre. The locations are still there to the left of the Helios statue. I’ve pics and comparisons from just a few weeks ago. Drop me a note if you want them. 👍🏻

Athelhampton House was of course the first location Most Haunted visited in its first series in 2002.

I was waiting for you to do this one, Athelhampton House is one of my favourite locations. The first time I went they still had the Queen Victoria Statue but unfortunately it had been sold.
