Published 2022-11-26
Melbourne is perfect for food lovers. We used to call Melbourne home, so in this 3 part series we’re taking you to some of our favourite restaurants and eateries plus checking out some new spots with seriously great food. These videos are based in the Melbourne CBD and the inner suburbs.

What we ate and where we ate it:

Oxtail Melt and coffee $21.50 at Nico’s Sandwich Deli, Healeys Lane, Melbourne CBD. Open Monday to Friday 7am-2pm.
Melts available from 7am and full menu available from 10am.

Boat noodles and tom yum noodles $20 at Soi 38, 38 Mcilwraith Place Melbourne, Open Monday to Saturday 11am to 3pm and 5pm to 10pm and Sunday 5pm to 10 pm

Buko pandan and ube halaya $8.50 (2 scoops) at Kariton Sorbetes, 177 Russell Street, Melbourne CBD. Open Monday to Wednesday 1pm to 10pm, Thursday to Friday 1pm to 11pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 11pm.

Fish dumplings and pork, prawn and chive dumplings $38.16 at Shandong Mama, Midcity Centre, 7/200 Bourke St, Melbourne. Open
7 days, 11am- 9:30pm

NB: We used our credit card for payments and there was always approximately a 1%-1.5% charge for doing so. The prices above include the card charge.

Huge thanks to Kariton Sorbetes for treating us to gelato!

We’re Thomas and Sheena, food and travel fiends. We travel full time, hunting for the BEST local food in the world to showcase via our YouTube videos. Food is a window into a country's culture and one of the most exciting ways to get to know a place.

We're all about eating what and where the locals eat. You won't find food that's been created merely to be social media worthy on here- no rainbow bagels, gold leaf soft serves- just honest food that tastes incredible.

From street food to mom and pop restaurants, we want to show you the best food we find on our travels.

  • Big fan from India. While grabbing a bite, your videos make the perfect meal accompaniment. Every video, you guys radiate such positivity (and kindness with your polite disposition)! For all the quality content you churn out, you deserve at least a million subscribers. Have some family over at Sydney, Australia. Hope to go on a rampant food trail if I ever visit them or plan to study there :*

  • @gdragon4829
everything looks so yummy! awesome video guys
  • I’ve wanted to go to Soi 38 for ages and my partner had planned to take me there as a surprise for my birthday last week but we both got Covid! Boat noodles are some of my favourite Thai food as well. I’m lucky we live close to the cbd and I also work and study there. I’m always trying little out of the way places. Have you tried Brother Lee on Swanston st? They sell delicious Liangpi noodles and also Rojiamo, it’s at the back of a shop called Old Shanghai. Another place I love is a tiny Malaysian place in the arcade next to Kmart, it’s called Jom Corner. David’s Masterpot is great for Malatang and Master Lanzhou have now opened up on Swanston st and so have Biang Biang noodles. SO much great food.
