Jigs are one of the best lures because you can fish the super shallow super deep, in clear water and muddy water, fast and slow, on the bottom or swimming. You can do everything with a jig and it can mimic a bluegill, crawfish, shad or anything other object a bass eats.

In this video I want to go in depth when it comes to fishing a jig!

BassFishingHQ is dedicated to teaching people how to catch more and bigger bass. I will go over different bass fishing tips & techniques that will put more fish in the boat or on the shore. Whether you are just starting out or a seasoned tournament angler, my goal is to help you catch more bass.

  • This is the best and most comprehensive tutorials on jig fishing I've seen on YouTube including all the variables involved. Must watch especially for those newer to the technique. Well done man.

Thank you Tyler! I have tried jigs occasionally over the past 40 years but never could figure them out. Truthfully I got frustrated and never gave them a chance. A few casts here and there and then tie something else on. After watching a couple of your previous jig videos a few months back I decided that I was going to catch bass on a jig, no matter what. I put 2 rods on the boat with a jig on both. Took a few spares and trailers with me and nothing else. Spent the day casting until I finally caught one. That was back in late August. I have been burning them up on jigs ever since, experimenting with different retrieves, yesterday was an awesome jig day. Mid October I topped 8 pounds (my PB) for the first time ever! I am now obsessed with them after being so frustrated for many years. Simply put, I had to MAKE myself do it! Now this video, the icing on the cake! Thanks again Tyler!!!

I'm stoked on the length of these videos. All content creators acknowledge fishing being complicated but even the 30 minute videos leave a lot to be desired. Almost an hour is fantastic
  • @danielswartz6818
I’ve never been a good jig fisherman. But this year it’s do or die. Thanks for a real great lesson.

I watched this video and went out Sunday and caught a 6.7 lb largemouth on a white jig white crawl trailer. I have tried jig fishing 100 times with nothing Thanks for the video and have patience people it will work
  • @kyleoden3015
I used to hate the jig until I put a concerted effort into fishing them. I'm a believer now.

You nailed my fishing "type" right on the head when you mentioned a fisherman not having experience/confidence in a particular lure type. I have several hundred, if not a thousand, dollars of lures but when I get to my pond it's ALWAYS Booyah tandem spinners (yes only Booyah) or a swimbait like a Storm Wildeye Crappie. The only reason I do this is cause it's what I know and don't have the confidence to learn a new lure. You are 100% correct, I gotta get out of my comfort zone and expand my knowledge to raise my catch average. Thank you good sir, keep the educational videos comin!
  • You might be the best source of free information out there. I'm a tournament fisherman in Wisconsin and your technique tips translate perfectly up here. Thanks for the info!
  • It may have been a longer video, BUT it was truly LOADED WITH GOOD STUFF. Simple to comprehend and retain. Great job Tyler
  • The best informative bass fishing channel on YouTube. No question. Thanks again for the content.
  • This was undoubtedly the best video on bass fishing ever made. IMO. Perhaps it because I love jig fishing. I will add this, dead sticking catches a lot of big bass for me but it’s usually in really cold water with pork. I think in cold water that pork trailer matches the slow movement of other natural movements in the water. Great video!!! Thank you.

I love seeing the parallels between my other favorite jig teacher Randy Blaukat and your teaching - it helps me to understand it better and learn. Randy's tutorials helped me catch good bass on a jig for the first time and I hope to develop it more with your information. Also big thanks for not forgetting about us boat-less pond/bank anglers!
  • @Snags70
Caught my new PR opening day in Wisconsin on Saturday with a Booyah football jig with a red rage tail trailer, and it was my first ever bass on a jig. Use this video for learning the jig techniques. Tyler your advice is great for people getting into a new techniques of bass fishing! 19.5" smallie 5lbs pregnant female. Was a blast!
  • Wow! What an amazing, thorough video on jigs. Thank you for putting this together. Love your channel.
  • @ukstorm2727
I needed this video , most comprehensive jig info I've seen, last year started catching fish on jigs but hit a wall this year , unless you count a big swing head which I had a lot of success with
  • @johnowens7435
Great video. I have not had much luck or confidence in jig fishing so I will need to follow your advice and give it another (dedicated) try! The extensive tips in this video were quite helpful 🙏
  • @datboiya8942
Amazing tutorial I let youtube run on my second monitor while gaming but lost focus because the video was so interesting ended up quitting it to watch the entire thing cant wait to try jigs now
  • @DeluxeDallas
Thank you so much for this video i caught my pb on a jig and i always have one tied on
  • Thank you for all your jig videos. I had no confidence in a jig and thought they were a waist of time. However, after watching as many of your videos on jigs and Tyler Anderson's as well The Fluke Master I started going out on my kayak with no baits but jigs. The third time out I was disgusted that I had not caught any bass. I decided to change baits and left my jig dragging on the bottom while setting up another rod. I ended up catching an almost 3 lb bass by mistake and the light bulb went off, Now jig fishing is my favorite way to catch bass . Thank you so much!!!
  • A jig is my number 1 fishing lure. Flipping, swimming or dragging they always tied on.
