This video is so gangsta, it makes me want to quit my job, buy some Air Forces, move to the Bronx and hoop all day

I am coaching middle school basketball. Motivating individuals has always been easy for me. But videos like these are excellent tools that can help ensure your players are learning what they need in order to be successful. Thanks for this teaching tool.

Learned so much as an 11 year old basketball player. A new sub. I love the energy and confidence you give through each video.
  • Off the ball screens help like crazy too. Helps you cut and be free from a crazy defender.

Very nice vid, thank you! I’m teaching my 11 yr old on cutting, this video saves a lot of drawings and explanations. I really like the diagrams mingled with NBA clips. Keep it up, you just had a new sub!

Man I'm always yelling "CUT!" at guys in pickup games and they stand there like I'm speaking a foreign language
  • @layups
I was never that good but it always gave me so much joy to constantly move off the ball and set random screens 😂

Appreciate this. I never really learned how to do much w/o the ball besides rebound.
  • Great video and true the only thing i'd say is this the players that you mentioning have actual plays/offenses drawn up for them and screens are set to assist them at getting open sure they move with a purpose, if film is really dissected the players will hold, grab, lock arms of defenders to assist them with the addition to a host of screens. How would a player apply this in open/run gym situations where it would be most effective as alot of times screens are not set and if defenses are not guarding the player tight most of this will most likely not work in my opinion learning how to read defenders in open play situations would be optimal in getting shots for as you know open runs consist of alot of 1-on1 dribbling and 3 point shooting. So this video is made is totally great and is a real base for fundamental basketball but it's so many other things that goes into this that needs addressing so that no matter where the player is playing this can be applied, this is much more difficult to do in open gym and in organized play where if the plays are not for you, you can't just run your own cuts because this is not what the offense calls for and you may disrupt what the coach is trying to run and the coach will actually tell you as a player "stay outta that area we are trying to isolate the post" or we are running this to try and get a 3 point shot or something else. I'm just asking for developmental purposes to help young players understand everything is relative and when to do this, how to actually read, setup players in certain situations, be able to do this and not clog up areas of the court, be in optimal positions to benefit from all of this. I'm never ever trying to be disrespectful or negative about this video i think this is a great video and has merit and will help but i just think it should be explored more and things brought up to help players understand their how, why and when this will and can be most effective for them.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on the subject I will try to implement this on NBA 2k now
  • Bom vídeo, acredito que essas movimentações com e sem a bola são importantes, ainda não sou bom nisso, mas vou colocar em prática e tentar aprender.
  • Well Done! Key is also instructing your team to be aware that the pass is there.
  • @leechrec
MJ is a great example of how to move without the ball without running too much..

As a kid, one of my favorite players was known for his movement without the ball, and he was constant movement. That player was Doug Collins.
