  • One thing I would suggest as you go through these small towns is show one business that is operating. Iโ€™m sure they would appreciate the spotlight
  • As a Scotsman im fascinated to see rural US. I do wryly smile when something 150 years old is thought of as OLD. The main bridge in my town dates back to the 13th century, and some buildings date back to around 1500-1600, with some structures as old as 1050 as a build date!
  • I live 30 minutes south of Hillsboro in a little farm town of Sardinia. The area is the Ohio Bible belt, Amish, Mennonite, Christian neighbors that live peacefully and secure in their homes. I am 73 years old, retired 30 years US Army and operate a small farm. Southern Ohio is heaven on earth.

Being an Ohio Native, and having travelled many backroads, and small towns throughout the US, I have to say that towns like these are why Iโ€™ll probably never live anywhere else. While these places may not be the bustling hubs they used to be, they are still active communities with their own little eccentricities, and idiosyncrasies. Youโ€™ll find these places dotted all over Ohio, and generally the people are always friendly, and very welcoming. Being the original frontier there is also so much history in our state that is still very well known, and preserved. Itโ€™s pretty wild that in under a days journey you can go from riding on a world class rollercoaster, to the middle of Amish country. You can see mountains, plains, and three big cities in around 5 hours of driving, and you could make it into Cleveland to catch a performance of one of the best orchestras in the entire world. Whoever said that Ohio is boring never really took the time to look around.

I have enjoyed viewing these towns and cities with you. Thanks for sharing and safe travels.

I am a retired UPS driver that has delivered packages in every town you were showing. You missed the most historic homes in Hillsboro. The 400 through 700 block of N. High St. and the 200 through 500 block of E. Main. I laughed at your Johnny Paycheck reference. Aross the street from the Hillsboro courthouse used to stand an old bar called the North High Lounge. Johnny got into an argument with another man and pulled out a pistol and shot at him. I can't remember if that's when he went to prison or not, but he fled back to Greenfield and was arrested! Thanks for the video, it brought back some fond memories!

Your respect of other people and the way you explore their communities is outstanding and informative thank you helping me to see America and giving me new places and people to learn about ๐Ÿš˜โค๏ธ๐Ÿˆstay safe on your travelโ€™s

As a Michigan man I can tell you I love Ohio. My grandchildren are buckeyes and Ohio is a beautiful state. The only draw back are the unruly fans of OSU .
  • As you have shown in your video, just because a town is poor doesn't mean they can't take pride in keeping their town safe and well maintained. Being poor is not a legitimate excuse for criminal behavior. Because the towns are so small people tend to know each other and help and support each other. There are obviously some exceptions , but overall, they are good places to live and raise families. Pride in one's self and one's surroundings is not based on income but on morals and hard work and a sense of community. โค
  • I almost feel like I am riding right along with you guys. When I was young (in the 70's) these towns were thriving. I think things went down in the late to mid 80's. I love those houses and how well kept they are. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  • Definitely like to see 20-30 seconds of countryside between towns. Makes more sense of the landscape context and makes the journey more satisfying.
  • Iโ€™m in Ohio. I grew up in a small village south of Columbus. Only thing we had was a gas station a pizza place and 1 bar. No traffic lights. You had to drive to the next town over to go grocery shopping. Miss it for sure. In Columbus now and boy was that a mistake. Nice tour ๐Ÿ‘
  • Thank You, you showed a couple of my husband and I houses in this video. The Yellow 1901 Queen Anne Victorian right about 7:02min in that you showed for Sale is one that we currently just fully remodeled and listed for Sale. In total we have fully remodeled 7 homes within Lynchburg, Ohio. We are trying hard to restore and bring back some beauty in this historic area. Again thank you for your visit.

I most likely will never visit the USA in my life, let alone to rural areas like these, but I love watching your videos. They give me some new perspective. Such sparsely populated roads are impossible to encounter here where I live (Southeast Asia). We're always jostling with other people or other cars everywhere we go.

I live in Hillsboro, Oh. I have lived in the area all my life. Friendly town. The counthouse is the pride of the area. Looks lovely at Christmas. And yes, there is a navitity on the counthouse square funded by local family. Many beauitiful and active churches in Hillsboro. Sorry you missed our wonderful little league park. The place is hopping with excited kids and families all summer. Wish there were more jobs in the area, but this is a wonderful area to bring up a family. Thanks for showing Highland Co.

Our family used to have our family reunions at the now long defuct Lion's Park. My late grandmother was a caregiver/helper to many widows in the Lynchburg and Hillsboro area. Small towns have been gutted by population decline and property neglect.

LS Another great one-Glad you are in a safe town-I saw your video when you were in Gary IN-Did not think you were going to make it out in one piece!
  • I really enjoy your videos, you are documenting current history in a unique way. Imagine people watching this in 50 or 100 years from now. Keep it up!
  • @elainepleiman
I'm from Ohio and I thought you did a great job representing our small towns. I don't live in our small town, I live in the country. Sometimes, I wish I lived further out!
  • @wesiles2360
That's crazy man!! I grew up right outside of most of those areas (Lynchburg/Hillsboro/Wilmington) in Fayetteville, OH. Loved my hometown and all the people out there. Love your content man keep it up!
