Shooting the Hatsan Flash QE air rifle at 25 and 50 yards. Wanting a heavier pellet to test on coyote/bobcat/fox size game. The Hatsan Flash QE is an un-regulated gun, so inconsistent air will cause pellets to shoot groups in an up and down string especially at longer yardages. Also, there is usually a cylinder pressure sweet spot and pellet velocity that gives the best shot groups. For example, a tank may hold air at 3000 psi, but that high pressure may not allow as much air to be released at the initial shots because it requires more energy to open the valve. After the first few shots, the pellet group may rise and may tighten up because the air release becomes more consistent at lesser air cylinder pressure. Regulated air guns have a much more consistent air amount release at each shot and there will not be an up and down shot string group.
