31:54 damn that Finland team packed with talent. Niemi, Hyppia, Litenham, Joahannson, Kuqi

West Germany and Germany have only ever lost 3 WC qualifiers in nearly 100 years (1934-date). In 1985, they lost to Portugal. In the last World Cup they lost to North Macedonia and in 2002, they lost 5-1 to England. Incredible result; meant nothing in the end, but incredible all the same.

I was a bit too young to truly enjoy the English team with Lineker and Gazza but the Golden Generation will always be my favourite English team and although they never reached a finale, they gave me some unforgettable memories and joyful moments. Owen's goal against Argentina in 98 is the true essence of English football

Dennis Wise, Barry, Dyer, Parlour, dark days I remember all too well🤣🤣🤣
-
In terms of pressure to score that free kick as an English captain has to be the best free kick of all time
-
Andy Cole was one of my favourite players and you almost believe tge narrative that he wasn't given enough chances when its completely untrue! He was played mote than enough and everytime he failed and missed important easy chances, same as Fowler. Fact is Owen was the MAN and before that Shearer was but people for some reason don't like remembering how good Owen was! The best English player I've seen

19:13 . Biggest mistake was making Adam Crozier, a Scot, the guy to choose an England manager. U dont expect a Scottish person to do right by England.

Thanks for the upload

remember watching the greece and england game little did I know it back then The Future Euro 2004 winners gave England a right old scare in Old Trafford

The Germans will never ever forget that one 🤣. The narrator's brain must be on drugs, it's not one of the greats but it is the greatest England performance ever up until now. Glad to say that I watched it Live on BBC 1. Love the Heskey goal celebration with the imaginary golf club "Get out of here" swing Lol.

50:46 will never forget this moment. I froze. Couldn’t believe it and was waiting for offside.
-
53:10 still one of the best
-
1:03:42 that’s some touch and finish. Class
-
31:54 some lovely moves in that game
-
40:22 these were fun times

Beckham should of just stayed on the right like Ferguson made him do at Manchester United, if he came into the middle and invaded Scholes and keanes space he would of been subbed off, he was the main problem with our midfield as he played anywhere he wanted and must of drove gerrard, scholes and Lampard nuts! With them thinking why is he trying to be bryan Robson

Reviewing this in light of all that chat about the 'golden generation' makes you want to chuck your chips over the garden fence. Against Greece, England were all over the place. Just a mess. There was no way in retrospect that that side was ever going to win anything. Ferdinand was just a blatant liability (responsible for Germany's goal in Munich and both Greek goals at OT) and Beckham's free kicks were just aimed at him producing a worldie. What's the point going up for a free kick if all he wanted to do was go for goal? Actually, looking at the data again I'm struck by how bizarre this qualifying competition was. Finland's loss to Greece proved fatal. However, England's last match against Greece could easily have gone against them and if Dick Jol, the referee, had a good game then England would have lost out to Finland who drew 0-0 with the Germans on the same day. Jol was awful that day - dreadful refereeing performance. No wonder the Greeks thought it was a fix. Finland would have had 30 minutes to work out what they would have needed to do. England were that close to going out.
