2:44 this is the moment that the noble man had to make a compromise with himself! Great acting!

It would be a mistake to think that Monarchs(or Plutocrats for that matter) today are any different from this guy.

In reality 11,000 out of the 15,000 troops under longshanks were Welsh (not that they were eager to fight the scots, as Wales had been conquered by Longshanks only a few years before, they were forced to fight for England, and just before the battle, there was a mutiny among them, the English killed some of them). The battle had 2000 deaths on each side, despite the English longbow and the Scots being outnumbered 2 to 1. No Irish were present at Falkirk either.
  • "what's that on the ground looks like oil or something" - "don't think about it"

This was a great movie about a man many of us outside of Britain knew little about.A rebel that was a real hero in a pretty savage time in history. The historical inaccuracies aside it was definitely worthy of the awards
  • 0:12 Longshanks stare and saying "irish" with massive contempt is the best part of the movie. Long live the king

Saw this movie in the theater. Great acting, great soundtrack…completely Ahistorical. The Scots were as well equipped as the English and the English were not incompetent as portrayed in this film. Longshanks was called”The Hammer of the Scots” for a reason. He never lost a battle to them when he was in direct command of his troops. Also he wasn’t a pagan or a tyrant of a King as portrayed. He wasn’t a nice guy, but he wasn’t any worse than any other King. England actually did well under his rule.
