The "Acts of Pilate" OR " The Letter of Pilate" refers to a collection of documents detailing events surrounding Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea who played a significant role in the trial and crucifixion of Jesus Christ according to the Christian Gospels. These documents are not included in the canonical Bible but are considered apocryphal, meaning they are not considered part of the official Christian scripture.

The Acts of Pilate consist of various texts, including the "Gospel of Nicodemus" (also known as the "Acts of Pilate" or the "Report of Pilate"), which is divided into two parts: the "Acts of Pilate" (or the "Gospel of Nicodemus, Part I") and the "Descent into Hell" (or the "Gospel of Nicodemus, Part II"). These texts claim to provide additional details about the trial, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ beyond what is found in the canonical Gospels.

The Acts of Pilate are believed to have originated in the early Christian centuries, likely between the 2nd and 4th centuries AD. They are considered important from a historical and theological perspective as they reflect early Christian traditions and interpretations of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. However, their historical accuracy and reliability are subject to debate among scholars.

While the Acts of Pilate are not considered canonical scripture by most Christian denominations, they have influenced Christian art, literature, and theology throughout history. They offer insights into the ways early Christians understood and interpreted the events surrounding Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.

In church they say that Pilate condemned Jesus, but if you read the Bible it describes Pilate trying to get the people to agree to release Jesus, and when they wouldn't he literally washed his hands to say that he was having no part in Jesus's death and that the guilt would therefore be entirely on the people.

Reading The Holy Bible for myself changed my life, my faith, and my perspective. None of us are good people. We all need(ed) Jesus Christ.
  • It breaks my heart what our LORD endured for our sins. Thank you Lord 🙏🏼

I read his entire letter to Ceasar. In it I found a man who was overwhelmed by the job of Governor. I found a believer in Christ as the son of God. And I found his story of the crusifixtion and resurrection to be entirely accurate with the storys in the Gospels. To say that this did not happen can no longer be taken seriously after reading this third party witness to the events. Good Friday and Happy Easter to all.
  • I don't care what He looked like. He's my Savior, that's enough for me.

I loved the moments when Pilate stood up to Ciaphas, such as when Pilate had "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" posted above Jesus' head (as was common at Roman executions to post the person's crime over their head) causing Ciaphas to have a fit and demandedPilate to remove it. Pilate's response was, "I have written what I've written!"

My Lord Jesus, praise you and thank you for laying down your life for me a sinner, but praise your Righteous Name, you rose from the grave and defeated sin and death! For only You are worthy!

I love Jesus. My heart is heavy, and I weep for Him, for his suffering, his sacrifice, for what the Jews did to our innocent and perfect Jesus.

Extremely interesting. Yes, most of my adult life founding that many ancient writings are not taked about, or in print just to support someone's beliefs. In effect, that is "withholding evidence," or lying by omission.
  • Pilate found no guilt in the charges they had for the Nazarite. Therefore he didn't want to condemn an innocent man. Good judge
