The reason Wes is a great ref is because 1. He cares about his job more than any ref I’ve ever seen 2. He treats the players like adults and not like children like most refs do

Memo to EA Sports, if possible, please acquire Wes to provide the referee's voice track for future NHL video games. Presently there isn't one.

Wes McCauley is great for hockey. Every era seems to have a great ref, someone who stands out: Red Storey, Andy VanHellemand, Kerry Fraser. Wes is certainly in that category now.
