Scooby-Doo: The Movie (2002) was probably one of the most confusing and convoluted movies we've seen so far, but does it make up for it's flaws by being fun to watch?

Scooby-Doo: The Movie
Zoinks! Two years after a clash of egos forced Mystery Inc. to close its doors, Scooby-Doo and his clever crime-solving cohorts Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) and Velma (Linda Cardellini) are individually summoned to Spooky Island to investigate a series of paranormal incidents at the ultra-hip Spring Break hot spot.

Fun fact: scobby doo franchise canonically has multiple timelines and actual magic/all costumes is the result of that
  • @Cordavision
Fun Fact: James Gunn wrote this movie, and he’s said that there’s an R-rated cut of the movie. Along with that, CGI was used to remove cleavage from shirts.

Them: "don't say beans!" The entire live chat: "BEEEEEEEEEEEEAN!!!!!"

I think we can all agree Matthew Lillard was the best casting for Shaggy. He is who I think Shaggy looks IRL! Also hard to believe James Gunn wrote this!

Are we just to ignore how amazing Brendans Shaggy impression is?
  • @Ryotaiku
The Cartoon Network website used to have a Flash game where you could throw tomatoes at Scrappy Doo. I think I played that more than any other.

Alright, I'm gonna take a stab at this: The scene at the party where the gremlins break in? It's meant to clue Mystery Inc in on the fact that the whole thing is real. As far as the other side, the gremlins, and thus, Scrappy, know that Mystery Inc knows. That's the fight. The whole 'Is it real or a hoax?' angle, I think, is meant to marry the TV series' trope with the movies past Zombie Island, as the TV series was 'people pretending to be monsters' while the movies set up 'No, there's real magic out there' Scrappy theoretically wanted revenge for constantly getting added and subsequently kicked from the gang, over and over across the various TV series... Let's see, anything else? Oh, yeah, James Gunn wrote the screenplay.
  • Am I glad he’s frozen in there and that we’re out here and that he’s the sheriff and that we’re frozen out here and that we’re in there and, I just remembered, we’re out here. What I want to know is “where’s the caveman?”.
  • @raptalos9412
Scoobert Doobert is his full name This implies that Shaggy’s name is “Shagert”

I'm sure we can all agree that this is one of the movies ever made.

Hey kids, I have a bag of burgers. Just uh, come into the woods. Heavy Breathing
  • Was Scrappy ever supposed to exist?? I feel like one of the original animators just had a dream that Scooby's head just popped off his dog shoulders and ran away..

Fun fact: Drake was the actor for scooby that’s why he acts the way he does
