Did a lot of research looking at air compressors in this range to use on a restoration of a 1973 Ford Bronco. Ended up purchasing this one from Aircompressorsdirect.com and wanted to share my reasons for others that are looking.

  • Good on you for buying a quality product vice the cheapo units that seem to flood the market these days. You get what you pay for and you got a good compressor there. Funny enough the same compressor is sold in Canada as an Omega brand compressor. Only the guard and the pressure switch are different. I bought the Omega PP-6060V model like Donyboy73.
  • Great video..puma is a good homeowner unit..a bit loud running..made in Tennessee I belive.. yes high r.p.m.s..awsome

puma makes great compressors as far as I'm concerned. I'm a contractor and the type that gets dirty and I love to use my tools.. for the past 10 15 years many compressors have been fryed or what not but my puma twin tank 4 gallon compressor has done and served very well for the past I don't know its a 2002 so yeah.its old day after day even finished kitchens with it. rain on weathered and just now the pressure regulator broke but that's an easy fix.. can't go wrong with puma in my opinion or omega they look exactly the same I don't know if they are.
  • The American flag is on the tank to get you to think it is made in USA. Puma is a Taiwan company. You are right the pump is very solid. The electric motor is made in Taiwan and very high failure rate.

he doesnt turn it on because its too high rpm and tooo damn loud so dont waste your time if you came here to hear it

My use is exactly the same, the only thing I'm wondering is, how would it be for sand blasting, cfm wise it seams strong enough. and I'm only blasting one car and some parts, after that I would hardly use it, so I don't want to go overboard on size and price. Puma does have a 2 stage 40 gal. now that looks very nice, I'm considering that one as well.

Has their been any issues with it being mounted that close to the wall. A lot of instructions say you should be out so far. I plan to mount it as close as possible and was wondering if it was a problem?

I bought this same compressor at Northern for just a little over $550, 4 years ago. It has performed flawlessly ever since. This compressor is in my opinion the best bang for your buck out there. The only time I turn it off is for draining. Other than that it's on all the time. The manufacturer rates it at 12 cfm at 90, knowing it will at least meet that should it be tested. It's always a little higher. The CFM at 90 is the magic number. Just guessing, I'd say this compressor is more like 15 or 16 at 90. Probably higher. And very quiet compared to others I've heard

I'm a scroll compressor kind of guy, but I don't have a scroll compressor kind of wallet.
