Update: Please check out my newer video where I made an entertainment cabinet in this style -    • Amazing Woodworking / Mid Century Mod...

I had started collecting and cutting all the scrapwood almost a year ago, and finally had time to film and build this table. It turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined. I originally just set out to build a new cheap work table out of scraps, but now after making this table, I think I'd like to try this method with some fine furniture!

I appreciate that you actually said; "then I had to spend several hours planing everything." Sets a realistic expectation. Thanks

As a carpenter for decades, I really appreciate all the contrast between the species used in the make up...Very cool look and very contemporary too...And, all out of scrap! Thanks for the idea...I have a shit ton of that laying around..>:)

"I'll be right behind you Josephine" as the background music. Very nice.
  • The selection and arrangement of the different woods turned out beautifully.

I've always loved the look and feel of butcher block. When I installed wood flooring I intentionally made it as uneven as possible so the I sorta have a 'butcher block floor'. Amazing piece of work. IMHO it deserves more than just those metal pole legs. It's a work of art and should be in some dining room someplace. To make it out of just 'scraps' was just incredible. Nice work!
  • That purple timber is exquisite... amazingly beautiful. Can’t wait to see the base you make for it 😍

Beautiful. I love seeing the last part when the oil just brings all the hard work to life, makes the wood just pop.
  • there's no way I'd put that in any shop! That would be in my house. Splendid job. GORGEOUS

This is really beautiful, I would love a table like this one with wooden legs for my living or dining room.

A real thing of beauty. I wish this was my kitchen worktop

Man, that is a gorgeous piece! I'd be tempted to take the legs off and hang it on the wall, because that really is a work of art. Then again, there is nothing wrong with art in the shop - it does wonders for one's attitude and outlook. Great build! :)

you’re using that in the shop? outstanding!!! good for you, why not have something really nice that stands out that can admire the time you spent making. nice !!!
  • @sieveman
That needs to be a dinner room table, it is way too nice for a wood shop. I love the various colors of woods and how thin the wood used. The detail is really shown when you see how thin the wood is used to make this beauty table. You are very talented.

That's a beautiful table top and a great example of turning 'scrap' into a functional object. I don't want to be a killjoy, but I thought the legs let it down a bit, although if it's going to be an outfeed table, why not? That top is to die for, though.

I can't believe that JUST glue is holding this 3 pieces together. Lovely job. I envy your talent, and also your tools. Thank you.
  • @CysCorner
So nice and I love that you are using it for an outfeed table!
