The jump from Rogue to Pokemon: MD, is... huge. Not an attack, but the title made me think there would be more, since you skipped like 2 stages (or more) of Rogue like/dungeon crawler evolutions.

Olexa, your content is just insane lately. Keep it up man. I know the Wheel of Isaac is behind you, but I'm so glad it is. This stuff is really innovative, just like the Wheel of Isaac was. I love it.

This is a great video, really cool seeing how the genre has shifted and evolved over time. Been absolutely loving all the videos lately :)
  • @Artifying
This video has such a great concept. I love seeing the progression of the game design. You can really see how these games build on each other when they’re all lined up like
  • @RandomNPC15
The time jump between Rogue and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon hurt me :( less of a trip through roguelike history and more of a trip through modern roguelikes you like lol
  • @Brendan_Myers
Re: Dicey Dungeon being the first dice-based Roguelite, Tharsis came out a few years earlier in 2016. Not sure if it was the first but it was pretty good itself.

I hope Ben is able to complete revita 2.0 now that the Publishers was like "Ok... maybe you can push 2.0. Maybe..." Here's hoping they let him.. Edit 47:47 Him hugging that Super Secret wall and not noticing XD He does shoot it but after everything died. Edit 2: 54:30 Super Secret only has the particles on the wall, as you can see in my previous edit. If you shoot the SS Wall, sounds like you're hurting an enemy. There's no music XD

Olexa this video has superb editing. Really enjoyed it, keep up the good work

This is an epic concept, and a great job presenting it. <3

What a great idea. You missed a couple things between 1980 and 2005. Games like Nethack (or ADOM) are important to what roguelikes have evolved from. And some sai that Diablo was the first realtime roguelike.
  • @xelith6157
Absolutely love the videos where you play multiple roguelikes! I love the unique idea for this one.
  • @Wooorbie
52:00 chooses an item that decreases negative results from taking dmg while not being able TO TAKE DAMMAGE I can't lmao
  • @SkinSolder
I have to say this was such a wonderful idea traversing the history of roguelikes with such a fun mechanic. Absolute banger video thank you for creating it!
  • @ilodino2000

  • @pandeomonia
Man I don't even want to know how much time it took you to edit this all together. Just amazing work, great job.
  • you saying "I do not have the public key OR the private key" in that tone made me subscribe lol
  • @darienmask
