I know how this one is going to go down but hey ho, thats whats happens when you forget to charge a battery before a pace line. Anyway, i hope these cycling tips are helpful and please do let me know if there are others people should be aware of. Im just trying to help riders who havent had much experience with this. The more i do these rides the more comfortable i become, both from an anxiety point of view but also from a riding point of view.
I love riding my bike and im always in awe of the people who come and throw down the watts on a Tuesday night at Fight Night!
Next week it will be a shot back with the fast group.

"I am horrible at chain gangs." That makes you the perfect person for doing this video as anyone who watches this video and is new to this will be able to relate.

You might be horrible at group rides. But you are world class at making excuses. 100% hit rate in every video!

Ben's missing a damn leg and still flying around faster than I could ever dream!

Like the honest approach with your channel, not everything is perfect or edited out. Really refreshing

Hi Max, one thing to consider when cornering or going through bends is to try and pedal through it if you can and not free wheel. Not always possible if a tight turn but something to try as naturally most cyclist free wheel through most bends and corners. Its something ive been developing this spring, and it's really helped in maintaining pace through corners.
  • You do well 👍 your vlogs are very constructive and a learning curve for people like me that want to have a go at group riding at speed/ chaingang and preparation for crit racing 👍
  • Good to see you're progressing, great fun. What model/lens are the Sungods?
  • @n22pdf
You did really well mate.. great tips 😊 🚴🏻👍 Pete

Nice one, Max. Do you use a heart rate monitor out on the road? It's a great half way house between power meter and riding on just "feel". In fact, it's almost a substitute for a power meter if you don't have one. Cheers 👍

Another option to group rides... Which I wish I had where I lived is road bike time trials, which seem pretty popular in the UK
  • Argh, drops aren't aero, they're for sprinting and improving control through turns. Hands on the hoods, stay low, relax in shoulders and elbows and have as close to a 90 degree bend in the elbows yon can.

The SunGods fit your face and helmet colour well. What model and lens colour are they? Assume that lens is good in bright sun also? Thanks
  • @Gixer750pilot
I just realised one of the guys only has one lower leg !!!!! Fair play !!!

1 thing I noticed is the changes are not smooth. Well yours actually was. Gaps were too big also. As for that saddle, torque it to 12nm Id guess. But the specific torque should be on it somwwhere. Smooth is Fast for road trains

another great video - like the style - keep doing what you do. big lesson from this one? mechanical shifter FTW! Don't see the appeal of DI2 / AXS. Just another thing to worry about / charge batteries etc.
  • @hagakuru
i absolutely HATE saddle clamps like that. I had one on an oldskool Orbea and cursed at it often!
  • @goonzjav
What sunnies are those? Look pretty cool
